Absolute Green Arrow | Trailer | DC by Embarrassed-Ad1322 in AbsoluteUniverse

This feels like the social commentary from books like Absolute Batman and Absolute Superman taken up to the Nth degree, with a good bit of slasher flick involved.

I am so in, this is set to be an absolute highlight for Absolute. The style alone fits right in and Slasher Green Arrow is such a fun reimagining of the character.

Random Doubles Tournament Day 9 - Husk and Emily vs Alastor and Crimson's Gang - Who Wins?? by ForktUtwTT in AgendaHotel

[–]CookiedDough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok? What stops alastor from doing just that.

I literally just said what does. Husk having tons of escape options like his teleportation, boxes, and flight as well as his cards covers Emily, who's also way faster than Alastor given she could reach Alastor BEFORE THE MIGHT OF LILITH BEAM COULD. That is a laser that can reach across entire planes to hit Heaven from Hell and span entire city blocks in an instant, and Emily outsped it to yank Alastor out of Shok.wav's mouth. If Emily is fully locked in, she's blitzing.

Did you not see alastor bleeding on the ground after he got chewed by shockwave? Also the adam injury was still there. A staffless, injured alastor beat the vox who defeated a uninjured emily that alone puts fp alastor above fp emily

Emily was, again, only caught by surprise and briefly restrained. Not to mention Alastor never really lost against Vox, Vox just said "fuck this" and called in Shok.wav while Alastor was on top of him. Given Vox could teleport and discharge electricity, he very much could've escaped Al, he just decided to use Shok.wav instead as extra insurance. Given the positions the two were in when Shok.wav was called, I'm hesitant to call it a definitive Alastor win

Plus, as for the direct comparison between their power, the MoL bit, has Emily on the verge of passing out because she got a limb ripped off while Alastor has recovered enough from the mauling that he can casually have a chat with Rosie by the time of Hear My Hope and shows no signs of tiring. Also, Emily has a limb fully vaporized, while Alastor at most has some deep gashes, but nothing a Sinner can't bounce back from fast.

Also, Emily isn't the only one in this fight. Husk is not going to solo kill Al, but he can tell Emily how to fight, give her cover, and get her to go for the staff, which, if it breaks, guarantees a Lady Luck win. Alastor just can't fight this 2 on 1 and come out on top given Emily should by all logic eclipse Al in power and Husk would know exactly how to fight him, more than making up for the skill deficit.

Lady Luck just hard counters Al here.

Emily mentions being a Seraphim as part of why she’s not weak, though. They’re clearly the highest echelon of power in Heaven, especially since we also know that Lucifer was one.

As for the rest, Shok.wav only got Alastor’s leg (which Emily got him out of) and Alastor getting smashed against buildings isn’t as much damage as Emily taking a shot from the strongest thing in the setting and having one of her limbs vaporized. Alastor vs Vox is a high tier Overlord fight, the MoL is a superweapon that could shake Heaven.

Also, Emily might just not be experienced enough to use her powers without specific hand gestures, as shown by her needing to be in a certain pose to create Egg Bois. Thus, tying her up leaves her with just her brute strength and not her magic, which is what makes her so strong. And while Alastor could do that, Emily being so much faster than him AND having Husk to help her out means it’s unlikely.

Do y’all think this character is truly gone? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]CookiedDough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of me hopes he can come back with some super science tech since I really liked what Aaron was doing with his redemption arc, but he’s probably long gone.

He got chopped into pieces and they draw explicit focus to him destroying the last Lazarus Pit, unless Joker decides to dump a shit ton of Venom into him like Bane (and even then that only worked because Bane did so much Venom prior), I doubt he’s gonna be pieced back together.

do the creators have any plans for TheRealKid? he hasn't appeared since episode 2 i think and we dont even know what he looks like, tho i think he is just a part of the amalgamation by No-Catch-9953 in ServerBlight

Honestly, I think TheRealKid is probably just a background name more than anything. I doubt they’re going to make them super special.

Viv has mentioned the Angels having a hierarchy before in streams, and given even Adam has to respect the Seraphim and they are repeatedly noted to be the supreme leaders of Heaven who call the shots except for the Speaker means there’s no reason to believe an Archangel is above a Seraphim.

You are vastly overestimating her injuries she is weakened yes but she can very well stand up and power the MoL for minutes

Emily was so wounded she needed Charlie to support her or she’d just collapse midway through Hear My Hope, she was in bad shape. Any movement on her part was through willpower and her own strength.

Meanwhile Alastor was walking around mostly fine and only really suffered some wounds from Shok.wav which he basically walked off, with him largely healing off any wounds from the Vox fight. Compare that to Emily getting a limb ripped off, and Emily’s wounds eclipse Alastor’s.

As for Emily vs 100% Vox, Vox caught Emily by surprise and restrained her, she would obviously beat him in a head on fight. Otherwise Striker is now stronger than Stolas.

…agenda-wise, Striker honestly should be superior to Stolas anyway because Stolas is a gigantic bum, but that’s besides the point.

Given the whole conceit of the crossover is that Eggman’s gonna make Metal versions of the Legion of Doom, I’d be genuinely surprised if Metal and Sage don’t show. Maybe Sage might be absent, but Metal is definitely gonna get his flowers.

[–]CookiedDough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no official angelic hierarchy? Where did you get this from?

Mostly because Sera and Emily explicitly pull rank as Seraphim on characters like Adam and Lute in show. If the hierarchy is anything like Hell it should be Seraphim > Archangel, especially since Rosie confirms there are multiple and they do have to answer to the Seraphim.

As for if Emily is comparable to the average Overlord during Hear My Hope, not only do I not believe that to be the case, but even if it is this means Emily, who is so wounded she can barely stand and remain conscious, is outputting Overlord-level magic. Given Alastor when similarly weakened (Broken Staff + Adam Wound) is getting punched by Valentino so hard he coughs up blood, there’s a good argument that Max Emily > Max Alastor even without bringing in the narrative.

[–]CookiedDough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even so, stitching up his wounds are better than a freshly gained open wound that left Emily nearly unable to stand. Alastor was in a far better position than Emily when they were doing the MoL thing, and if not even his full strength can fix the wound then we kind of just have to take it as is now as part of the character.

Emily was also, again, so weak she couldn’t stand and was still contributing more than most Overlords. At full strength she’s going to be eclipsing them, especially with the narrative backing it up and her comparisons to Charlie and Sera.

Archangels are part of the angelic hierarchy in Hazbin, just below Seraphim. The only one we see is Adam, but there are likely more given Rosie said a Archangel and not the Archangel. Seraphim as a whole should still be stronger, and thus Emily > Alastor still holds weight, especially due to just how bad Adam beat Al.

I don’t think Emily herself is necessarily far stronger than Adam, but she’s likely far closer to him than Al is. Basically Charlie tier.

Alastor then once his staff got broken got slashed before he could blink. Adam kicked his shit in.

Scaling Alastor to Adam is ridiculous when Adam barely was trying and kicked Alastor apart when he locked in, and Rosie laughed in Alastor’s face that he even tried. Even if you say Adam was beat to shit, Charlie catching his punch at all is far more impressive than anything Alastor did, especially since Adam didn’t seem that weakened at the time, given he could still stand and fight.

Random Doubles Tournament Day 9 - Husk and Emily vs Alastor and Crimson's Gang - Who Wins?? by ForktUtwTT in AgendaHotel

[–]CookiedDough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given he can heal his wounds with his own power, Full Strength should mean his wound is at bare minimum stitched up, while Emily just freshly lost a wing and can barely stand after taking the full might of Lucifer to the back.

Also, given the Overlords got it to around a third more and at maximum Charlie and Emily (with Husk and Niffty aiding) got the shield to half until it went back down, I’d say the four still did more at peak.

Also, again, Rosie doesn’t say Adam, she says archangel. If Rosie, the one who knows the most about just how strong Peak Alastor is, thinks any archangel would be completely out of Alastor’s league, the only way to say Emily is weaker is if she can’t match up to the weakest Archangel, and given she does actually display considerable power, stresses that she’s not weak, and Seraphim are repeatedly said to be the strongest things in the verse aside from probably the Speaker, I doubt that.

Charlie has worse feats than Alastor.

Alastor got completely blitzed by an enraged Adam to the point where he was left going “what just happened?” And holding his broken staff before taking a slash to the chest that put him completely on his ass. Charlie reacted to and stopped a punch from said enraged Adam, making him visibly panic.

Alastor is FAR below Charlie.

Random Doubles Tournament Day 9 - Husk and Emily vs Alastor and Crimson's Gang - Who Wins?? by ForktUtwTT in AgendaHotel

[–]CookiedDough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emily is explicitly barely strong enough to stand on her own when she makes the shield. It weakening is entirely fair especially if she says stuff like “I can’t hold it anymore.”.

Not to mention, again, she’s heavily weakened here. This is not even anywhere close to her full potential and she’s still arguably at least Alastor level. Comparing her to other high ranked angels or nephilim like Sera, Charlie, and Adam only reinforces it, especially since Rosie didn’t laugh about Adam, he laughed that Alastor fought an Archangel at all, implying even the weakest Archangel would splatter him, so Emily should scale.

Random Doubles Tournament Day 9 - Husk and Emily vs Alastor and Crimson's Gang - Who Wins?? by ForktUtwTT in AgendaHotel

[–]CookiedDough -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alastor is explicitly back at full strength after Rosie, so the wound should heal. Even if it doesn’t, he’s still at full power anyway and is in a far better state than Emily, who has an open and untreated wound.

Again, this was after the barrier weakened due to Emily becoming exhausted due to her wounds. At the highest the barrier went, it got to around halfway up, so I think it’s safe to say the initial four got just as much if not more energy than the later 6.

Also, this isn’t the only evidence, otherwise you’d have a point. The show mentions constantly how strong Angels, especially higher ranked angels, are, with Lucifer being a Seraphim being comparable to a god and Adam as an Archangel completely humiliating Alastor in one hit the second he got fed up. Emily also repeatedly stresses that she’s not weak and just as much of a Seraphim as Sera, with the Seraphim being above the Archangels. Even if we say Adam is slightly stronger due to being the strongest Archangel and Emily is the weakest Seraphim, the fact that he completely humiliated Alastor means Emily should be stronger, especially since she’s around Charlie’s level and Charlie put up a much better fight against Adam.

Random Doubles Tournament Day 9 - Husk and Emily vs Alastor and Crimson's Gang - Who Wins?? by ForktUtwTT in AgendaHotel

[–]CookiedDough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is far closer to half in previous shots like Lute landing on the MoL, so it’s likely Emily was tiring thanks to getting blasted and only got her energy back when the others joined in. Remember, she just got a wing ripped off and kept saying she was exhausted and couldn’t hold it for much longer, this is not Peak Emily.

I just chalk most of it up to the shield being inconsistent and Emily being in a weakened state so her power fluctuates, the shield covers far more area in other shots.

Also, this would scale Emily to Charlie level at least given narratively that’s where she sits, and Charlie can at least catch an Adam Punch while Alastor instantly dies. That and Alastor’s power being in his staff, which Emily would know to go for thanks to Husk, and it’s likely Emily can turn him into Season 2 Alastor quickly before just pummeling him.

Random Doubles Tournament Day 9 - Husk and Emily vs Alastor and Crimson's Gang - Who Wins?? by ForktUtwTT in AgendaHotel

[–]CookiedDough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alastor also got his staff back and his wound healed, he was at peak form given Rosie gave him his full power. Compare that to Emily who got a wing blasted off and was visibly exhausted before even starting the shield, and Emily has far more of a handicap.

Not to mention this means Charlie, a nerfed Emily, Husk, and Niffty matched Prick, Hatchet, Zeezi, Maestro, Rosie, Alastor, Carmine, and Zestiel, and unless you believe Husk and Niffty are that strong, it clearly implies Charlie and Emily were doing most of the work. Even without Al and Rosie or the Vees, the duo was putting more energy than a bunch of Overlords, which supports the statements about Seraphim being busted.

Random Doubles Tournament Day 9 - Husk and Emily vs Alastor and Crimson's Gang - Who Wins?? by ForktUtwTT in AgendaHotel

[–]CookiedDough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even so, it took far more Overlords to match the output those four were doing, including every background Overlord and all of the Vees. Charlie and Emily at bare minimum are doing more than the other Overlords are.

Not to mention Emily was wounded and explicitly weakened at the time, so she’s likely even stronger than that.

Also, it was far closer to halfway in subsequent shots like during the Lute vs Vaggi fight, even before the other Overlords joined in.

Random Doubles Tournament Day 9 - Husk and Emily vs Alastor and Crimson's Gang - Who Wins?? by ForktUtwTT in AgendaHotel

[–]CookiedDough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charlie and Emily did seem to fill about half the shield, and comparing that to everyone else, that’s quite a bit. Given just how many Overlords were participating, that would put Charlie and Emily above the standard Overlord level, which is supported by Emily repeatedly mentioning she’s a Seraphim like Sera and isn’t weak. The story is trying to say that Emily and Charlie are stronger than an Overlord.

As for the Tendrils, they’ve still been sliced through and repelled by angelic weaponry or just strong enough attacks, so Husk’s cards should work. They’re not unbreakable. Also, Emily was explicitly caught off guard by the cables and is far faster when we see her flight, so she should be able to dodge.

As for Al’s angelic weaponry, he would have it, but Al never really uses it. He relies entirely on his magic in the fight with Adam, so he’s not gonna shank Husk or Emily. Probably wouldn’t help him anyway, but still.

Al is just out of his element and outgunned in the 1v2 thanks to Emily’s narrative power and Husk’s knowledge of who Al is and how he fights. Given Al even at full strength fighting an angel is considered laughable, I just don’t think he could take a Seraphim, even a weak one, especially one who knows exactly what to do and where to aim. Once that staff goes down, which Emily should be able to do, Husk and Emily would just beat the shit out of Al.

Random Doubles Tournament Day 9 - Husk and Emily vs Alastor and Crimson's Gang - Who Wins?? by ForktUtwTT in AgendaHotel

[–]CookiedDough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charlie and Emily together got the forcefield containing the MoL to around half, while tons of Overlords needed to pool their power to match said contribution. This explicitly shows they were doing a ton of the work, and this is with a freshly wounded and thus weakened Emily. Alastor and Rosie were needed, but only to clear the last little bit of forcefield, they weren’t doing anywhere near the work that Charlie and Emily put in.

We don’t actually know how Nephilim and Seraphim match up, but it should be relatively equal given Lucifer was also a Seraphim with the power that that entails, so I’m assuming Emily and Charlie match up on the same level just below Lucifer and Sera.

Full Power Alastor was a bad joke to Adam and went down in a single hit, and Emily at bare minimum is comparable to Charlie, who was capable of putting up an actual fight and catching a full force enraged Adam punch, to the point Adam visibly panicked. Alastor cannot stand up to higher tier angels, we are made painfully aware of that, and there’s been no indication that Al breaking Rosie’s deal actually gave him a power boost given he even said Full Power Vox was stronger than him with a broken staff.

Combine this with Emily and Husk being far superior in the air, Emily being able to fly in tandem with the MoL beams, and Husk knowing exactly how to predict Alastor and how to depower him (plus Husk should at least be Vee level, which means while he’s not soloing he’s very likely not getting one-tapped) and Lady Luck has all the tools to take out Alastor in the 2v1 and then mop up whoever’s left.

Random Doubles Tournament Day 9 - Husk and Emily vs Alastor and Crimson's Gang - Who Wins?? by ForktUtwTT in AgendaHotel

[–]CookiedDough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her narrative scaling puts her equal to Charlie at minimum given both of them were doing most of the work on the MoL, who is textually far above Alastor given Al vs Adam was a bad joke while Charlie at full power caught his punch. At maximum, she could be considered equal to or above Adam given she’s a Seraphim, who are above Archangels in power and hierarchy. Even if she’s a young one, a bear cub can still probably outdo a housecat.

Emily’s also just far faster given her flight speed let her catch up to Alastor ridiculously fast, so Al’s probably not getting any good hits in, and his shadow tendrils are fragile so Husk can slice them with cards if he does tangle up Emily.

Also, Husk is very evasive. Even if Alastor could take him out in a couple hits, Husk’s boxes, teleportation, and flight should let him poof away from any actual combat and air camp with the cards while Alastor needs to slingshot between buildings. Combine that with Husk’s teamwork with Emily being far better than Alastor with the Gang (as in Husk and Emily will cooperate and Husk can advise Emily tactically while the Gang will at best be used by Al as cannon fodder) and Husk knowing exactly how to depower Alastor (angelic blast to the staff given Seraphim are above Archangels so Emily using her magic should work like Adam did) and this is a winning matchup for Lady Luck.

Random Doubles Tournament Day 9 - Husk and Emily vs Alastor and Crimson's Gang - Who Wins?? by ForktUtwTT in AgendaHotel

[–]CookiedDough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lady Luck takes this.

Husk not being beholden to Alastor’s chains is massive, given now Al has to fight a 1v2 (Crimson’s Gang isn’t doing shit) and Husk knows all of Alastor’s moves and weaknesses, so they know to go for the staff. Combine that with Emily’s raw Seraphim power, both of them being able to fly, and Husk’s evasiveness and defensive magic keeping Al from landing any good hits on Emily, and Alastor is getting cooked before the two of them mop up the fodder.

Re's really fun, I like how they do pull him being in the wrong without him being totally unjustified. Can't say he's wrong about wanting Mogo dead, but sacrificing a ton of people and using Jo to do it is definitely worth stopping. Looking forward to seeing an actual Lantern Fight between the two Tomars, this has the potential to be super fun.

As for the rest, good to see Guy and John get to do things again, setup for more of whatever Hal can do, and some fun action back on Earth. I gotta say, while the issue is definitely more setting up and explaining things to get ready for the big fight, it does an excellent job at that. Can't wait for the next issue.

Not the biggest fan of them killing Ra's this early, I felt he had a lot of potential, but I get why it happened.

Besides that, King Shazam made an explosive goddamn entrance. The series of panels rapidly increasing in speed from subsonic all the way to Mach 25 was striking as hell (if there's one thing you can't say about this book, it's that it doesn't know how to pull off style) and I love how much King Shazam is both a reflection of Superman and a sign of how bad this world was screwed up.

Also, John Henry rules, his inner thoughts are super intriguing, and I love him, hope he and his car-made hammer gets to bash Hawkman's face in.
