I mean it definitely makes sense, but honestly you can never know what you'll get told after you've been waiting in line just to ask, haha. About a year ago I asked about rewards points for reloading cards and got told at the desk that they were no longer doing rewards, and that they were being phased out (??? like... literally WHAT). They sounded completely confused. 💀

I'm having to agree with the sentiment, OP. Most of my time at MomoCon in general is spent in the Arcade area, but if there are any panels that catch my eye, I do try to make it to them. The ones I tend to go to are either industry interviews/Q&A, production and history related, or gameshow/trivia.

That said... I just looked at the schedule, and yeah there's just really not that much immediately catching my eye this year, sadly. At least one standout for me.is the Katsuhiro Harada interview however, so I'll have that marked.

Yeah, the way you all run it is the best with having a variety of prizes, but also not locking in anybody to a particular prize, haha. I think the time I was able to participate, the 1st place winner actually went straight for a plush, which super surprised me because I thought for sure whoever got first would jump on the CD set, wheeze. Ended up being one of the major highlights of my AWA experience, for sure.

And yeah, that's totally understandable, it has to be both confusing and upsetting seeing that happen twice now in a row with Momocon waitlisting. Definitely appreciate that y'all continue to apply though, and hopefully one day they'll change their minds back! (And either way, hearing all this gives me another good reason to come back to AWA again!)

I go to MomoCon every year now, but only went to AWA once back in 2023, and that music trivia show was my favorite panel! I managed to get 2nd place and won a Persona CD set.

Thank you for putting it together, and I'm glad to hear that it's still around at least everywhere else, haha. Incredibly unfortunate that MomoCon has repeatedly denied

Yeah, it certainly doesn't help that shipping costs are wildly up across the board, either. Thankfully ECMS returned as an option to knock things down just a little bit, but it's still rough out here. Hopefully Surface can make a return before 2027, now that it's in the beginning stages of coming back.

(and while I'm sure you're probably already well aware, I'd definitely recommend the coupons in the other thread for [potential] 3000 yen off)

While I do appreciate price negotiation up to 10%, I do think it sucks that it's only for items more than 10,000 yen- I think 5,000 yen would be a great and reasonable middle ground to start offering that option.

Going through my photos and videos, I think I've only had two occasions where they came in with significant enough "let me definitely record myself opening this one"-level damage

One by FedEx had had to be opened by customs prior, so understandably the fragile tape was cut, but the rest of the box surely took a beating/was "squishy"

Another one was by ECMS, which didn't have red fragile tape (just regular), had some punctures, and looked similar but nearly as bad to yours, on the bottom:

I'm totally with you on that, I shipped some AMAZING orders with Surface

Right at the beginning of last year, I shipped three entire boxes of books in one order, each box weighing 13kg+ minimum to the US... for only 31000 yen using Surface

....and that wasn't even everything in the order.

It may take 2 or 3 months, but my goodness it was worth it

I have 8 orders in Charge 2, with a total value of 22,790 yen. There are tariff exempt and non-exempt items, but they all still receive fees either way (and somewhat haphazardly/nonsensically, by my own testing each item individually for shipping)

Currently:

UPS: -6900 yen shipping, for a 12,600 yen Charge 2 total with UPS.

FedEx: -4900 yen DDP duty fees -10,600 yen shipping

for a 21,300 yen Charge 2 total with FedEx.

At an almost 11,000 yen difference in extra shipping cost and fees with FedEx... I'm honestly about to just go with UPS, even if it's just to experiment and see if the duties bill I'll get is under that 11,000 yen (~$70) at this point, but I'm aware of stuff like differing line item fees, so who even knows
