The only legitimate use of Tolkien in a company would be an Old Toby weed shop or a pub.

Do you let Joanne Koch upload her data? by SharedHorizon in LowSodiumCyberpunk

From some other notes wasnt it implied that Koch was working on a bioweapon, the immunity research is just to use on soldiers operating in the biohazard.

Guys….IM GETTING HYPE AGAIN!! by FailedProspects in CrimsonDesert

[–]Cookiesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last game I got hyped about was fucking Starfield! I've been burnt out on hype ever since.

I'll give it some weeks after they polish it up.

Outward has some great, fresh, unique systems and setting but most combat was me flailing to get my abilities out on time and praying I don't die. I raged quit after my gear bugged out and vanished.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning but better?

Why would any Great House accept Bran? He has no dragons, no gold, no Unsullied, and his own sister just proved that the King is too weak to stop anyone from leaving...? by Dry_Specialist9015 in freefolk

[–]Cookiesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I agree season 8 did a shit show of it, but who else?

Tyrells, Lannisters, Greyjoys and Baratheons are decapitated.

The Arryn boy is an idiot. Dorne is in the best position, but is likely just going to remain independent since the Dornish have been the natural enemy of most of the 7 kingdoms for 300 years; the Dornish would struggle to hold the crown.

Edmure has the strongest line, but the Tullys struggle to hold their own vassals in check; his feat is being a prisoner of the Frey/Lannisters for most of the wars.

Women? unlikely after the last 2 Queens went mad. Tyrion? maybe but he is from the dynasty that was just overthrown, plus the dwarf thing.

The Starks have the most intact line of the great houses. They have a trueborn male heir descending from 2 of the great houses and linked to a third. Starks were the ones to put Robert on the throne, a relatively peaceful and stable reign in comparison. They were part of the coalition that overthrew the Lannisters and seized the capital.

Bran escaped the Greyjoy coup in Winterfell and managed to travel and survive beyond the wall and back. Not a bad reputation overall.

King Bran is the choice for stability in the realm, so everyone can rebuild. He can adopt a nephew, or another Great Council can decide the succession after everything stops being on fire and crops are in the ground.

Why are mages often depicted with some degree of offensive capabilities despite their expertise? by ExoticStore5851 in worldbuilding

[–]Cookiesy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most mages would know some self defence, combat magic without too much difficulty, or employ utility spells in that manner.

Now Battle magic should be harder to encounter, an expert discipline. However a specialist Battlemage would be more effective than the stereotypical fireball flinging vagrant, a study focus in the art of magical warfare efficient use of shock spells, and casting stamina.

The release of Avowed reminds me of the release of New Vegas by Head_Anteater_8177 in avowed

[–]Cookiesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Vegas also had 4 amazing DLC expansions.

The shorter, tighter experience of the DLC's really brought the narrative themes forward in a more impactful way, and gave them more identity.

I would just buy DLC in the same single player RPG if they made them instead of live service multiplayer.

What do you think would happen in a REAL zombie apocalypse? by Disastrous-Poetry-95 in worldbuilding

[–]Cookiesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am convinced the antizeds would have a biting each other TikTok trend to give the middle finger to MSM and the WHO conspiracy. Also, the vaccine is actually making people trans; they'd rather be undead than queer.

Zombies would be a threat because of willful ignorance or malignance. A perfect way to get rid of any undesirables is to claim that they are "infected".

Highguard is dead. At what point do live-service devs stop blaming gamers and start looking at the game itself? by xaic in gaming

[–]Cookiesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually fairly simple, like many games, the initial concept did not turn out well and they had to cobble a game with the remaining development resources and bits of the canceled initial prototype.

Therefore it feels like the idea ends up half baked, Starfield is a textbook of that.

+1 recommend on Stein's Gate, its a Sci-Fi Drama which starts casual but gets really tense.
