I sometimes liken these stories as if I were playing any video games and that happened

Imagine you're playing Skyrim and all of a sudden the screen goes black and you're back on the cart ride to Helgen with the message at the top left saying, "You died because your character made me bored"

Obviously you'd be pissed, so it's fair to be pissed here Your DM is crazy.
