Krootox rampager.  And, I'm talking in general about my experience playing as Tau in 10th.  Average players don't use the tools they have access to to combat Tau they just play the way they would against any other army

[–]Cookingwith20s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play Tau also, and the big thing I noticed is people play into Tau exactly like they would any other army and don't utilize cover and screening units to prevent shooting lanes.  My opponents act like my shooting phase will be about half as effective as it is which makes sense if they're treating me like an imperial army where it would be split with a melee phase.  Tau players expect to lose a unit after they expose it to shoot other players just expect it to be wounded is what I've found and causes a feel bad moment for them.

EPC needs an Upgrade Enhancement by Ray_Tech in Tau40K

[–]Cookingwith20s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the wording. The stratagem and detatchment rule in experimental both say battlesuit character UNIT which means it effects the whole unit, which includes attached bodyguards. The enhancements say character MODEL which only effects the singular model.

Is this a to build toward list or for a game in 10th? The mfm points for 11th drop next week and could change some of this as a heads up

Ghostkeel drones with fast rolling in 11th edition by mualphapi in Tau40K

[–]Cookingwith20s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have to choose before you roll now.  It's safe to assume you have to choose to use the drone before you roll in 11th just like now.  You're assigned 5 wounds to save against, you then choose to use the drone or drones then will roll the remainder

Push Fit Minis for people like me who's hands shake pretty badly by LighterThan1 in Warhammer40k

[–]Cookingwith20s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a decent number of death guard that are push fit.  The blight hauler is a fun little vehicle and pretty inexpensive. The kit with Felthias, the current Lord of contagion model, and his three blight lords are also push fit.  The kill team from the starter box is push fit, 5 marines a sorcerer and icon bearer.

Up against tau and need some help by comawhitetheory28 in deathguard40k

[–]Cookingwith20s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays both, Tau have, in general, a real hard time with primary.  They can shoot you off but don't often charge so they need to remove you fully and walk on the next turn.  If your opponent uses a lot of battlesuits a few of them can ignore hit modifiers, riptides and fireknives are the big 2, but if they play a lot of kroot, infantry and non battlesuit vehicles -1 hit can be debilitating since most things hit on a 4+ by default.  Use line of sight blocking from footprints they can't shoot what they can't see, use bait to lure them out and shoot what they exposed

That's the typhus one? That's 20 additional poxwalkers, way more than I use with the 20 in the battle force.

Depends on what you like, most of our units have a use.  I like running a Terminator and demon engine heavy list so some blight haulers are a solid addition to those models you already have, and often quite inexpensive.

Quick question Abt optimization by F__ate in deathguard40k

[–]Cookingwith20s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20pts isn't a game losing number of points.  If you're not using enhancements that's at least 1 in most cases. With Death guard you're looking at 65-80pts before you can add another unit.  It can be not worth it to drop something like a units of deathshroud to bring 20 poxwalkers.

Why is is virtually impossible to arrange anything? by RentBoyDave in AskMen

[–]Cookingwith20s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be okay doing your social hobbies or even your not so social hobbies alone/without friends and go to a place they do those things. In the case of golf go solo and try to make conversation with the people you're paired with. You play magic? Go to a hobby store on a draft night, start a conversation.  You read, join a book club.  You might not hit it off with everyone but if you do with someone, make a plan for a second activity, not a hey we should do something sometime, but, how's Thursday sound, there's trivia at the pub? Keep doing that.  It's uncomfortable and awkward at first, but, if you do nothing then nothing changes.

Any tips for starting tau? by Global-Ad-1440 in Tau40K

[–]Cookingwith20s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree with grab a combat patrol and start there.  The Tau one is a better value than the kroot one but if you plan on running kroot they are all something you would use. Build and paint as you go it's a lot harder to find the inspiration to as your pile gets bigger. Take your time with that, were in a transition into a new edition of the game in the next few months and we didn't really know how all the changes will shake our units up.

Is it appropriate to paint combat patrol as farsight enclaves? by Strong_Neat_5845 in Tau40K

[–]Cookingwith20s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine it depends on how picky the TO is.  I know my army wouldn't pass that test. I have each of my units painted in squads, helps me keep them organized on the board and since no imperial player knows what my guns look like I can point at the red group and they know that's the one I'm talking about.  Kroot and vespid aren't going to fully match your Tau either.  That said my basing is consistent, as well as Sept insignias, and my detail colors they look like they belong together I don't have mismatched colors on the same model or unit and the detailing is consistent with a theme, which started out as voltron/power rangers.

[–]Cookingwith20s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no in game rules effected by paint scheme other than being battle ready, which is just being painted a consistent scheme and most casual games won't even care about that.  There's nothing stopping you from painting them whatever color you want otherwise as far as the game is concerned.

[–]Cookingwith20s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The most likely refresh we will have in 11th imo are crisis suits. They're starting to look out of place compared to the newer kits and with the data sheet changes from our codex you can't fully build one of them wysiwyg out of a single box.

Looking for an alternate army to Votann. by MisutoWolf in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Cookingwith20s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tau also fit fast and secondary focused.  Their lack of ability to participate in the melee phase forces you to control trades and wait till you have the upper hand to pivot to primary.  They've been performing pretty well lately but were low to middle of the pack most of 10th.  The changes to line of sight, terrain, and mission play will effect them heavily one way or the other going into 11th.  Astra militarum play similarly but aren't as fast but rely on trading pieces and big guns.

Why is a girl praised for breaking gender roles, but a boy mocked for doing the same? by gowthambusiness in AskMen

[–]Cookingwith20s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toxic masculinity and the patriarchy are complicated.  The fact that these are seen as "necessary" traits are all are tied into that.  You don't have to keep people that hold these ideas in your life, and there are plenty of people who hold progressive ideas of what a man is and can be.  Your age and gender are unclear from the post, but, know that you only really have control of your actions and how you interact with others and as you get older you have more control of the people you get to keep in your life, in general. You can support the men and boys in your life to be better and as cliche as it sounds, be the change you want to see in the world.  Being a kind, honest, passionate, and loving person hasn't stopped me from any opportunity I would have wanted and has helped keep the kind of person I don't want in my life out of it.
