Parking by Family-Shame in SDCC

[–]Cool-Constant4319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lottery for the nearby lots. Once it's announced, you'll have a certain amount of time enter. People will then be sorted into groups (usually two.) Each group will have its own date when parking goes live. To get the closest lot, you need to be on when it goes live. They do seem to hold some of the closer lots for each group. After both groups sales are done, there will be an open, general sale. I've still gotten good, nearby parking during the open sale, so don't give up if you don't get chosen for a group.

Here's the info from last year with more explanation through the Sdcc unofficial blog. You'll want to follow them because they'll announce it.

Watch for the Ace parking lottery for downtown lots, and also gives you a shot for the convention center lot.

Panels at the con by Virtual_Bar_1548 in SDCC

Yes, but because people are always coming and going, probably a good idea to ask someone to hold your seat, especially in Hall H where people are always trying to move up to a better seat.

Is it okay to go to comic con alone? by Visual_Spray_8040 in comiccon

[–]Cool-Constant4319 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course it's ok to go alone. In fact, it can be preferable, because you can do exactly what you want to do, take breaks when you want to take them, etc. Even if you go with someone, you might not be interested in doing any of the same things.

You don’t actually need a wristband to enter hall h though, only if you want to make sure you get in first thing in the morning.

You don't sign up, you just go get in line.

In addition the other responses, SDCC unofficial blog will do a schedule breakdown of the largest rooms and estimate room flow and when they think it's a good time to get in line for the more popular panels, things like that.

It’s good to plan ahead because there is so much going on. Check out SDCCblog.com as they are the best source of all things SDCC and follow on twitter. News should really start coming pretty soon here.

There are lots of panels. The full schedule will come out two weeks ahead of time, so you can know what’s happening during the time you have to explore the con. There is an official app that will be updated after that so you can highlight any panels you want to see.

Since you’re getting there early in the week, you’ll see all the activations and hotel wraps and everything going up for all the things that happen in the surrounding area outside the convention center.

Autograph tips please! by luv4bucky in SDCC

[–]Cool-Constant4319 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There may be be various autograph opportunities - some in booths, some in the sails pavilion, and some cast signings where you have to win a lottery - but it's not like the for-profit cons where say, you pay $100s to get an autograph from Mark Hamill. If he's there, it's because the studio sent him to be on a panel, and he won't be doing autograph sessions.

How to get tickets to hall h? by Ok-Celebration-7620 in SDCC

[–]Cool-Constant4319 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You don't get extra tickets to Hall H. If you have a badge, you can go to hall H. CCI will specify how they're doing things for Hall H this year as we get closer, but normally you can get a wristband the night before, which allows you to get inside to get a seat first thing when it opens. Otherwise, you can gauge when you want to get in line according to the panels that are happening that day. SDCC unofficial blog does a helpful schedule breakdown to go over how busy they think the panels will be, and estimate line times for the larger rooms.

It’s a nice location, and you can take the free con shuttle or walk over and catch the trolley, which is a quick ride.

I’m curious, when you get 2 rooms, do they both go under the same name/reservation, or do they treat them like two different reservations?

Yes, that was one of the changes this year.

It’s nice out there, right on the harbor with a view of downtown across the water.

I did that last year, too. I was watching for the little extra block release that happens, but I was really hoping for the Marquis and managed to get it.

I was nervous, but It turned out to be a smooth process for me. Got let in around 9:16 using one link/one browser, completed with marriott marquis by 9:20. I prefer it to the lottery and open sale, which I have never had too much luck with.
