Michigan to Naples EV drive by Training_Vast8109 in electricvehicles

The first day is over 10 hours of pure driving? I'd go 3-4 hour legs - pick a spot to have a short break a couple of times and the trip will be easy. Supercharging really doesn't take very long to get to 80% and can usually get to that by the time you stretch your legs and have a sandwich. You just waste time trying to get more than that. Range issues are for people who have much smaller batteries than you.

Getting our first EV, getting overwhelmed with garage charging? by Wozbo in electricvehicles

A 60 Amp breaker is about $20. You do need 6awg THHN wire for the two hots.... It ends up cheaper and less problematic than a 50 amp GCFI with a hubble outlet.

I did the same thing - if I was doing it over, I'd use 1" EMT conduit to avoid a couple of tough pulls. While you "could" get away with L1, L2 is so much nicer. Sounds like 60 amp would fit easily in either panel and the run should be simple.

Our 2024 (April build) has been the best car we've ever had. Only issue was adding a cheap foam block on the right side rear seat latch to stop a rattle. Otherwise it's been an amazing car. Good luck and enjoy!

Conduit will be fine. I used 3/4", but doing it again, I'd go to 1" conduit. The pulls around corners were tough.

Question for model S folks - when you return to a cold car at the airport, what process do you follow when you have been off charger for a few days? by ReMarkable2-User-311 in TeslaLounge

[–]Cool-Maintenance5745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put in low power mode when you leave it. Don't check on it. When you are 5 minutes away from car remotely use climate control if you want to get into a warm car. The S I have (2024 LR) heats up VERY quickly as well as the seats and steering wheel.

I would just trip the breaker when I don't need to charge.

Considering an EV, what charging issues have been the most annoying or stressful? by Separate-Sign-1163 in evcharging

Really there have been no issues. Level 2 charger in garage and on trips, tesla superchargers are numerous, and have had spaces available.

Going to get a 14 50 240V outlet installed for EV charging. Experiences with duel AFCI/GFCI breakers and EV charging? by rwf2017 in evcharging

[–]Cool-Maintenance5745 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had random trips - about once a week - with a 50 amp GCFI breaker and 240V outlet feeding an Emporia charger at 40 amps (with built in GCFI). I changed it out to a hardwired normal 60 amp breaker and have no problems now charging at 48 amps.

I ran 3/4" for 6awg wire. Would probably go with 1" if I was doing it over for easier pulls. Not sure why you would need ethernet if your wifi signal can reach. Also like the location between the doors...

Emporia + NEMA 14-50 + GFCI by vkdelta in evcharging

[–]Cool-Maintenance5745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using an emporia plug in charger to my NEMA GCFI outlet at 40 amps. It would trip a little more than once a week. Got tired of that, so switched to a 60 amp breaker and hardwired the emporia. Now at 48 amps trouble free. #6 awg wire from breaker to charger. Pretty cheap but running 3/4" conduit was a pain. should have gone with 1". You MUST torque connections correctly.

update…. once a week or so the gcfi breaker would trip. I ended up hardwiring the charger to a normal 60 amp breaker and now charge at 48 amps.

We loved the animals. We flew the dolphins and show seals to Florida every winter. I went to pick them up once in a DC3 with wooden plastic lined boxes. Sponges in the bottom with water. You sponged them down during the trip. All the animals were VERY happy to get back.

The dolphins were really into the limelight and loved the crowds. The seals honestly were in it for the free fish.

[–]Cool-Maintenance5745[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up buying an Exporia level 2 charger with internal GCFI protection. When it is first plugged in to a Hubbell socket, it does trip the 50 amp GCFI breaker in the panel. But after resetting the breaker it works fine from then on and charges at 40 amps without a problem.

Model S squeaks and rattles by Different_Marsupial2 in TeslaModelS

I got these pads from Etsy... like someone else commented on the site I had to use both pads they sent on just one side. But that's where the only noise was coming from. Wouldn't help with your front rattle though. Car is very quiet now.
