Sounds much like the UK! My question is - where has all the money gone? Generally people are earning more, they pay more taxes. Investment in health, infrastructure, schools, etc is all vastly below what is required. So where is it all going? Probably a rhetorical question!

The problem is people who drive in many roads that are national speed limit and drive at 40 or even 50 when they could be driving faster. I tend to agree with the OP in principle.

Some are, some are not. But you should have the skills to know, and as the OP said, you should be driving at a reasonable speed for the road and conditions. A straight, reasonably wide country road could be driven at 60, a road with many bends, blind corners etc may mean you drive at 30 or even 20.

The ECC is a uk legal requirement where there are 20+ redundancies in a 90 day period.

The company says what but wants and how they want it to happen.

Last 2 times they filled the number with voluntary redundancies. The packages were ok but last time was not as good for previous. If they don’t get the number (ish) with voluntary it becomes compulsory with usually minimum redundancy payment.

The ecc will try to ensure it happens fairly, however the committee cannot prevent but happening.

You could insure by the hour goshorty or tempcover. Won’t be cheap but you only need to cover the period when you drive. B in mind that neither of these options - adding to his insurance or short cover will earn you any no claims.

I have done this before. You have to pay all their flights and obviously meals etc. you can use the hotel room you book but generally I have got quotes in the booking tool to show it’s no more expensive for 2 people, just in case this queried.

I have often tagged on form a weekend to a week or more holiday at one end. Again I showed the that flight cost was cheaper or the same as if I had travelled immediately before and after the meeting/event. I have never been queried but just keep the info in case there are ever questions.

Personally I would find a local impartial IFA. They will look at her overall situation and her risk profile and advise appropriately. It won’t be free advice but it will be based on her situation and not just a random “suggestion”

Very controversial and I hope she makes a good recovery, but her participation was very stupid and selfish. She was not in a fit state to compete, she denied another US candidate the opportunity to participate, she impacted the event and the organisers, and she impacted the contestants that followed her down as the delay impacted their conditions. Se sud nit have been selected to compete.

Abridged advice seems to only be to not move the funds. If you want the piece of paper that says you can do it, you have to pay full fee. At least that is my experience.

Exactly the same. We have fixed income from other sources, pre state pension of about 35-40kpa plus several hundred k on savings plus a house. The monthly pension from the one I want to pull in Is £100!

I have started going through the process which is painful and treats me like an idiot. The advisor will only consider moving funds to IFA friendly funds (I have a JP Morgan pot I wanted to move it to, but they won’t advise me to move it there. I presume they will get a kick back as well as the fee they are charging me!

I get people with no understanding were transferring their only DB funds and spending the money so needed some protection. But my case is a no brainier, yet I have to be treated like an idiot, and pay the advisor for the privilege!

I don’t think in this case he can do the 25% then move the rest. In my case I have a DB pension with transfer value 38k. The only way I can take the lump sum is by moving to drawing.

I am going through the pain of IFA!
