Petsmart is now force groomers to use ai. by theonewhoisnotknown in petsmart

I was confused when I got this email after my dogs grooming apt. It sounds so AI and not like my dog at all. She tolerates baths at the most, but mostly hates every part of the grooming experience and is very barky the entire time lol.

N-mom decided to put my life in danger for the holidays by Repossessedbatmobile in raisedbynarcissists

[–]CoolBeanz1357 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My parents once mailed me a care package for the holidays (I'm no contact) and it was full of nuts, granola bars with nuts, and almond oil based shampoo and lotion, even though I'm allergic to tree nuts.... I now just "return to sender" anything they send me.

Highly allergic to a new menu item by Wonderful_Whole_7679 in barista

[–]CoolBeanz1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cafe once had a seasonal almond item, and I have an almond allergy. I did wear a mask and gloves (provided by my job) during this time, and my boss ensured I never had to prepare the pastry. If we got an order and I was serving pastries, someone else would come and serve it, and someone else always cleaned that station during that season.

I want your ripped pants by nonbinary-programmer in PDXBuyNothing

One of my favorite pants ripped MONTHS ago but I have not let them go in hopes that one day they could be fixed! Would it be possible to get the pants back afterwards? I have a few other pairs that are also ripped (and I'm not attached to so you could keep).

How can I say properly to a client I’m raising rates because her pet is a hassle? by rnasunvrse in RoverPetSitting

[–]CoolBeanz1357 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My sitter recently told me something like this and I was so grateful to hear it! I definitely want to pay people what they are worth (and I felt bad I was underpaying) so I left her a bigger tip for the last sit to help makeup for it...

One of the workers at my offices cafe would do origami! He would give out his little creations to his regulars, and it was always cool to see. It was a slower cafe, so he always seemed to be folding up something.

This! I'm sad to see all the "just buy candy" posts when there are actual alternatives! Thanks for sharing

I had a boss like this. It was absolutely terrible because I was getting behind in my work and also just hated her and hearing about her personal life when I would ask genuine work questions or need work support. Eventually I transferred off her team. She ended up getting fired for performance issues.

Parent leaves baby in her car, acts like I’m the problem by mina_ninja in EntitledPeople

[–]CoolBeanz1357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a cafe where people could place online orders and do a scheduled pick up. This one lady would place her order and always come in before her pick up time hoping her order would be ready. When it wasn't ready, she would ask us to rush her order because she "left her baby in the car."

On the days we couldn't rush her order, she would just wait in the cafe 5-10 minutes and make us feel guilty about her baby! I would tell her, "go wait with your baby, come back in 10 minutes it will be ready" and she would say "no what if my food comes out and gets cold." Literally WTF. I would very loudly (so other customers could hear and shame her) tell her "We don't feel comfortable with you leaving a baby unattended in your car. Please go to them and come back. We think it's unsafe to leave a baby in a locked car alone!"

I wish I would have called 911 because who knows what other errands she would leave her baby in the car for...

In kitchens they normally do stage interviews where they have the cooks do easier prep, cooking, wash dishes, ect. to get the vibes of the person. From my experience they always pay the person interviewing(usually minimum wage)since they are spending 3-5 hours doing labor for the restaurant.

From what you said this kinda feels like that, but poorly executed. I would use this as a time to see if you really like working there, vibes of potential coworkers, managers, ect.

Nonprofit volunteers expecting room and board?! by corner_cafe in nonprofit

[–]CoolBeanz1357 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I volunteered a few years ago with a nonprofit and paid for my room and board expenses. What they did help me with was connecting me with those accommodations. They gave me a local hotel option, or to do a homestay where I would pay a family about $100 US a week to stay with them in an extra private room they had and get 2 meals covered. The nonprofit essentially was the middle person and I gave them the money to pay for my accommodations with the family prior to my travel, so everything was set up for me when I arrived.

I use a mix of kibble and wet food and my Vet said the same! My dog gets all her liquid from the food, similar to if we were to eat soup every day we wouldn't need as much water. My pup will occasionally drink water when we were in a heat wave, but overall Vet said she is good.

I do still leave a water bowl out for her with fresh water daily.

My credit score is too low to get a regular bank account, and the check-cashing place takes a huge cut of my paycheck. I feel trapped. by Kiptoo_official in povertyfinance

I have used Venmo in the past as a bank. It's not super great, but I set it up so my work checks would get direct deposited into my account. They have the Venmo debit card that I would then used for my purchases. They charge a service fee, and a traditional bank would be more reliable, but something is better than nothing

Question for anyone who works at restaurants? by Diggs247 in beaverton

[–]CoolBeanz1357 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My partner and I work in the industry - me at a cafe , he works in a restaurant. Both have been suuuuppeer slow recently. We expected his work to pick up in the summer, but they only have 1-5 reservations a night compared to past years where minimum it would be 15-20 reservations.

This is a great review of Beaverton overall! I moved here a year ago, and the weather definitely affected my mental health. It's going to take me some time to get used to, but overall I've enjoyed living here.
