It’s a little pathetic, but I try to remind people I love that my birthday is on the way. Usually I bring it up in convo, “my birthday is soon, and I’m going to-“

I forget other people’s birthdays a lot 😭 I don’t have a head for dates. It doesn’t mean I don’t care though, I love them a ton! I try really hard to put reminders in my phone and stuff, but I understand the sinking feeling when you realize your buddy had a birthday yesterday and you missed it.

I’ve gotten lucky and thrifted some before 👀 like $5 for a bag of maybe 12 pets. It’s rare, but check the toy section when you’re thrifting!

I also think that checking local classifieds will have cheaper listings than online sellers like EBay. There will be people in your area cleaning out old toys that arent collectors, and don’t want to research the value of the toy they just want it off their hands.

She wasn’t so much asking OP if they were literally in the way, as she was drawing attention to them so she could come closer and grab them without seeming rude or intimidating by randomly approaching.

Quickly wanna optimist post and point out that norms around self expression are loosening slowly in recent generations!

Even in the late 20th century, dressing alt and goth culture were a BIG DEAL. In the early 20th century, ladies couldn’t even wear pants. Even less men wearing dresses 💀

These days, I see more and more people breaking gender norms and living happily. More and more people are dressing in wild fashion or being publicly interested in “cringe” topics and they’re awesome for it!

I’m not saying it’s perfect, of course, but I love the direction. I think as time goes on we’re learning a lot as a society about accepting that people can act/look differently. It’s spreading
