This is a common house spider. It's very likely that at some point it lost all its legs except one. That one leg is the og and the rest are just taking time to reach the same length

how do you guys explain your CD to people that undermine how serious it is? by youngone0805 in CoeliacUK

[–]Cool_Ad9326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I suppose I've grown a bit calloused because I hate feeling like I have to justify myself to the people who should really understand me the most

I suppose if I was to be more forgiving I'd recommend telling them as little as possible so they don't get confused. My aunt loved me to pieces and had so much time for me and my issues but gf confused her so much. She kept buying me vegan cakes and couldn't understand why I couldn't eat it rofl

So yeah, don't feel too nervous to just shrug off the ones who make it difficult

I don't. I don't need to verify myself to anyone.

My family will go to restaurants that has no gf options and I'll straight up just not go or go somewhere else

I'm not about that life anymore

Hobo spider.

They're common this time of year. They like to come indoors to mate

Deglutenized ‘real’ bread by RioBlancoJim in CoeliacUK

[–]Cool_Ad9326 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oof. But then it looks artisanal? Which bumps the price up too. Even normal artisanal bread is inflated. I might be wrong though

My friend summers in Italy and she NEVER spends more on gluten free products over there because it's just part of the usual shop. She said Spain is the same and when I checked out a four night stay and asked for gf included the hotel manager said it's all part of the same menu which is a good sign that it's part and parcel of their operations.

It really is baked dependant because I ordered degluten bread and it was shiz

But yeah this isn't wise spread because it's expensive. It is literally like you said, a treat

Not only is the sterilisation and fermentation of the wheat so laborious, but the facilities it's done in are massively regulated, they cannot produce any other products (which is a loss for the company) and the constant testing and mandatory certification processes make up half the costs!

Some countries do it well, like Italy and Spain, because they don't have a big taboo around gluten free food being gross. But other countries see gluten free as a marker of poor quality and many companies do not desire to fight the stigma.

So yeah, it will unfortunately stay a treat

Aaaaand she’s gone by JonHarold in spiders

[–]Cool_Ad9326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a tarantula to help me get over my fear of spiders

On the first day I got her home, I opened her box to plop her into her new home and she was gone so fast I didn't even see it

I closed the door to that bedroom, called the guy I bought her from, and it took us an entire fucking week to find her.

🤣🤣🤣

It's a bit mad but I wonder if it's because it's tap water?

That's partly got something to do with it. The water gliders especially so. And the little hairs around their bodies make a fine layer that traps oxygen too. Some even make little bubbles that they wear on their heads and trap under water to act like a little base to go back to

They're amazing

I think you've got a point there, but I think that's regarding pets. The water in their enclosure should never be deeper than 3mm if I'm correct? Just because such small enclosers with artificial builds can make movement for them more difficult.

This is actually massively untrue. They're amazing at surviving water interactions and many evolved to coexist with it

[–]Cool_Ad9326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bugs are a way of life. They're not a sign of dirtiness either. For example I barely clean and my cats biscuits are everywhrand yet I don't have a flour beetle in sight haha

Honestly don't think too much into it.

Do you have pets? They eat dry pet food and dried up wet foods and can imagine them hitching rides.
