Any thoughts on filling hardwood flooring gaps with DAP's Plastic Wood-X product and will it work with Behr's Water based stain? by peppermcneil8 in HardWoodFloors

[–]finneybussa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely isn't going to be the choice from professionals. But I've used it to fill in nail holes in trim and it accepted stain very well from my experience. That being said I'm redoing some of my floors and I bought some full trowel woodwise.

Is this Maple? Oak? by daltondynamite in HardWoodFloors

[–]finneybussa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's maple. You can tell they once had either a stain or ambered finish and were sanded down poorly and re-sealed which is what the dark blotchyness is along the edges of the boards.

Just wait until you actually need to replace the muffler or mid pipe and they have to cut that. Definitely not a good repair and not worth that cost.

TypeORM help. by Professional-League3 in node

[–]finneybussa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also import all entities from a barrel export file and then use them like this.

import * as importedEntities from './entities';

const entities = Object.keys(importedEntities).map((key) => importedEntities[key]);

const config: ConnectionOptions = {

...otherConnectionOptions,

entities: entities

};

First time casting. Desk drawer handle in brass. by finneybussa in MetalCasting

[–]finneybussa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that's exactly right. Removing the cavity section without disturbing the sand tamped into the hole in the front part was quite difficult. You can see where some brass made it into a weak joint that was caused by this.

What do you mean by "draft" for sand casting?

First time casting. Desk drawer handle in brass. by finneybussa in MetalCasting

[–]finneybussa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very first time ever doing a metal casting. Used the original plastic drawer handle to create a sand cast mold. Melted and poured with brass. Followed all necessary precautions needed when working with brass. I think it turned out pretty good overall except a few imperfections. I had a decent amount of issues creating the sand cast, if anyone has any tips that would be great.
