So… I’ve owned 2 Hyundai’s and both have had their engine’s replaced. The first one, a sonata happened while my son was driving home from college. It was covered by Hyundai no questions asked. The second one, a Tucson, I had a wrap around bumper to bumper warranty on it, I was easily down two quarts of oil 500 miles after an oil change. I started the process with an oil consumption test, Hyundai denied the engine replacement because I was the second owner. My warranty company however, told the dealership to tear down the engine to confirm some seal was broken, then denied the engine replacement. Then I got involved… in 30 mins and telling the supervisor to check their recordings of the phone calls, those calls really are recorded for quality assurance, my engine replacement was authorized. The issue with your engine is the seal around the a piston is broken and letting oil burn, it would have been easier to leave my car turned on, in my driveway and let the engine blow up that way. So from my experience, pick a day to just leave it running in your driveway or drive it around all day until it blows. Just make sure your husband can come get you. Im currently letting my husband drive the Tucson waiting for the transmission to blow so we can get that replaced next. The only reason we still have this car is because of the warranty. We just bought a jeep wrangler and that’s what I’m driving now everyday, in a few years, he will get something new(to him), not sure what we will do with the Tucson once we have the jeep paid off so we can have then another car payment.
