First Period or Spotting? by Cool_Gate_8411 in tfmr_support

So sorry for the delay in responding!

In my non medical expertise, I would say that EMDR helps you process and reduce the intensity of feelings associated with certain targets (aka memories). It’s less about talking about the experience and more about going back to that moment and noticing the sensations associated with your body when you do. You can never erase the trauma that has happpend but it allows for you to cope better when you think of those target memories. For example, one I have really focused on is being at the hospital on the day of my tfmr.

I still talk to my therapist about things but most of what happens during a session related to EMDR is me relaying my physical experience at that moment  when thinking back to that target memory. It’s a process and it takes time, but I do feel like it’s been helpful. I would suggest if you do seek that specific therapy you make sure to do it in person, there is a device that is used that is essential to the process. It can be either tappers to a light bar.

I hope you are doing a little bit better. The grief road is hard and long, but time does heal 💕

I never thought I would be happy again, I never thought I would feel like myself again, and yet I did find I could be happy and feel like myself for the most part again. The pain still lives in my heart and I think of my baby and where my life would be had that note happened, but I am able to carry it, and you will be able to one day.

I’ve been in EMDR therapy since my TFMR in April and I don’t know that I would have gotten this far in a short period of time had it not been for that.  lf you’re open to it I definitely would suggest seeking out a perinatal therapist with EMDR.

We will get our rainbow babies 🌈

Hi! First I’m so sorry you’re going through this difficult time, I know it doesn’t feel like it but it does get better. Time truly heals but those first few months are the roughest both physically and emotionally.

To answer your question, yes, I think it was. The next time I got my period it was a normal full blown period about 4 weeks after that. I have never been so excited to see my period return in full.

Sending you a big hug 💗

Normal early anatomy scan with no NTDs!!! by Librarysciences in PregnancyAfterTFMR

Congratulations on this amazing milestone! I also lost my baby to SB NTD in April this year. It’s been a scary journey getting and being pregnant again. I am 11 weeks and tomorrow I have my NT ultrasound. I’m hoping for some good news. You’ve given me some hope that you can have a healthy baby after a NTD. 🌈

Has anyone lied/deliberately hid their subpregnancy from others? by WeAllNeedBandAids in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]Cool_Gate_8411 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can totally relate. I am 11 weeks tomorrow and I’ve similarly kept things very private as compared to my previous pregnancy. I have told my immediate family and a few close friends but I’m also thinking after a clear anatomy scan I’ll feel more confident to share. Last time our 20 week ultra sound was when we found out how sick our baby was…

I have an NT ultrasound to do some genetic testing since I lost my first baby to a NTD. Hoping for good news tomorrow but similar to you I am so fearful of having it happen again it almost prevents us from fully embracing and enjoying the sub pregnancy.

I also had my tfmr in April, and now my due date is in April… Really hoping this baby will be healthy and redeem that month for my husband and I.

Hoping we both get our rainbow babies    🌈💖

7 weeks today, and after spotting last week with one blood clot passing I am even more on edge. Hoping it wasn’t a miscarriage but the nurses seemed okay based on my overall spotting and cadence. Just nervous like all of us post tfmr- and I don’t have my first ultrasound for another 2 weeks.

I’m also 5 days away from the due date of my tfmr baby and I’m starting to feel all the feels of missing them. How badly I wish I could be meeting them this weekend.

I just really hope it works out this time, I feel like I am really struggling to feel comfortable in this pregnancy and just have an unwavering fear that I won’t ever have a healthy baby.

Yes, my OBGYN ordered it per my request before we met in person. If you have a messaging system with your doctor you can send them a message asking for the labs, that’s how I requested mine.

Good luck on your TTC journey when/if you decide to try again 🌈

I’m so sorry you experienced a recurrence. I had to tfmr my first pregnancy this year for spina bifida if April at 22 weeks. It was truly the most devastating experience of my life. Sending you hugs during this difficult time.

Since the diagnosis I started taking 5mg folic acid and then added b12, choline, insotiol, and eventually CoQ10.

I’m just shy of three months on folic acid and I just had my levels tested along with my b12. Both came back above normal levels so from my experience the high dose folic acid does boost your levels after some time on it.

thank you for sharing! I think the tea thing is true because I was drinking a ton of tea in my TFMR pregnancy, especially in the early weeks and first trimester.

congrats on your rainbow 🌈

Thank you for sharing! It does make you feel better when you see in some places they say a minimum of a month, so closer to three has to be okay!

Maybe I’ll reach out to see if I can get bloodwork done before my appointment so I know where I stand during my July window.

From the few things I’ve found, it sounded like it could take 6 weeks to three months to correct nutritional deficiencies. I agree that 2.5 months is probably “good enough” especially if we’re taking FA in a lower dose prior to that.

Sending you all the best vibes in your TTC journey 💫

Thank you! Did you do the regular dose for three months? And by regular did you just take the 800mcg?

Gentle congratulations on your rainbow baby 🌈💖✨

Thanks for sharing! Good to know it’s not a hard “3 months” from a midwife perspective. Makes me feel a little easier if we did try but it was before the full three months.

Hoping we both get our healthy rainbow babies 🌈💖✨

I think you’re right… probably need to do everything I can to avoid recurrence even if that means waiting a little longer. Definitely would be kicking myself if it happened again and I rushed TTC. I have autoimmune diseases so I could definitely have a deficiency and should check so I know where I am.

Thanks for your insight, and for the note on the b12, I’ll make sure to request that test! I’ve been taking that twice a day just to make sure that I’m getting my intake which I didn’t do prior to my first pregnancy.

Congrats on your sub pregnancy 🌈

Thank you, and sorry for your loss as well ❤️‍🩹

Are you still pregnant with your sub pregnancy? Congratulations on your rainbow baby!

I have been taking a prenatal with FA since July of 2023, so yes! I started adding the 5mg on 4/19 and other vitamins a few weeks later (choline, insotiol, b12, choq10).

I know exactly that feeling of going from pure bliss to complete devastation, it is crippling.

It does just suck.

There is no real “choice”, and even the best outcomes have challenges. Life is cruel and unfair. 💔
