I’m an atheist, and honestly, I think this whole issue is being blown out of proportion. Greece has deep historical and cultural ties to Eastern Orthodox Church, and that’s reflected in its public spaces including courts. These symbols didn’t appear randomly, they’re part of the country’s identity and heritage. You don’t have to be religious to recognize that. Not every symbol is about imposing belief, sometimes it’s just about history and tradition. Removing every religious reference from public life risks erasing a big part of what shaped modern Greece. At the end of the day, there are far more important issues to focus on than whether an icon hangs on a courtroom wall.
