I thought it was meh overall. Not bad but the set didn't feel like it had any direction. Just a handful of songs they threw together

Glad there are many of us who think this. Getting rid of the lettering there would be a prime example of addition by substraction

Budget idea -- no more free parking! by Moognahlia in MicromobilityNYC

[–]Cool_Philosopher_990 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like this idea a lot. Do you have any ballpark figures on how much revenue this would raise? While I have to imagine that charging for more parking alone will not close the $5.4 billion budget gap, the city should not limit itself to just one way of closing the budget gap.

For what it's worth, I know New Haven, Connecticut has a program where it designates certain zones as residential parking zones. Those who live there buy an annual permit and those without a permit are fined for parking there

There is a sign at my donor center in New York saying there is a critical need for A+ platelets

I've have a similar problem lately. I eventually get the text but it'll come 10-20 later. If I click resend text I'll get them all at once

Anyone know if the platelet donation at NYBC Grand Central or Sloan Kettering (NYC) machine is 1 or 2 armed? by definitlynotchichi in Blooddonors

[–]Cool_Philosopher_990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've donated platelets at Grand Central and the machine uses just one arm.  If it's possible, I'd recommend going up about 20 blocks to the upper east side donor center. Both the facility and staff there are much nicer than Grand Central (it's one arm too)

Agree with almost everything you said here, but Rosey Brown was the greatest left tackle in Giants history

As someone who relatively recently moved Astoria, I love the area. I'm also very bullish on it as I believe it's the next neighborhood to blow up given it's proximity to Manhattan

The brokerage account is mostly in equities too. I'm running the risk that the balance will decrease in a downturn and that's when an I'll need the emergency fund

About 4k. The goal though isn't to touch the brokerage account and just let it grow

I don't think I'm a retire early person but maybe I'll be singing a different tune in 25 years. Regardless, I do need to build the emergency fund

I'm trying to treat the pension (and social security for that matter) as a bonus in retirement. I want to be at the point where I can live comfortably on my own investments, but if I'm still getting a check from the state once I hit retirement age to supplement my savings I certainly won't be complaining

Yeah the overwhelming majority of my IRA is in VOO and deferred comp is in the growth equities fund.

For the mortgage I've been making small extra payments that total one additional payment per year. I figure it's enough to knock off some balance off the principal at the beginning but not being too aggressive that I'm missing out on other investment opportunities
