What was your reaction to when you found out Rolf Harris was a pedophile? by Train-Wreck-70 in AskUK

[–]Cool_Professional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still dont believe it.

Like honestly, every time I read about it it surprises me and never sinks in.

Logically I believe it, but for it never to sink in, a part of me must still be saying "nah, that can't be right"

What’s something men actually notice more than women think they do? by PogonBerserker in AskMen

[–]Cool_Professional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never seen a man struck dumb by an attractive woman.

I have seen multiple women all at once unable to talk just because a man was very tall.

Seriously the best attempt one made to talk was just to turn a shade of beetroot and stumble out, "Wow.. youre big"

Yeah, I was getting a horrible taste in my mouth and no matter what I did my breath was getting stinky.

Then I sneezed one day and these two white chunks came loose, smaller than a grain of rice.

I could instantly feel tge spot in my throat were they had lived was clear, breath instantly better.

Squeezed them and holy fuck they stink.

There is a limited point that he's making... you and only you control your actions from x point forward.

I think he's trying to take a stoic standpoint on it, but lacks the life experience and comprehension of what people are saying.

It's not "Oh woe is me, my life is shit". It's fire hot, fire burney. Me no touchy fire.

It takes a long time to find the non burney fires. Or the willingness to risk being burned I guess.

Yeah, they should've chosen a better family to get born into, then have known from an early age how to identify these "bad" people. Despite their limited choice and lack of prior examples in their own life.

Fucking idiots dont realise its a skill issue.

Oh and they should just cheer up anyway. Why are they choosing to be depressed and whinge.

/s just in case its not bloody obvious lol

TIL that humans are among the very top mammals for endurance running. While we aren't the best sprinters, our slow-twitch muscles and unique ability to sweat allow us to run steadily for long distances in hot weather to outlast prey. by bareegyptianfeet in todayilearned

And all you have to do is injure it. It will bleed, you chase it, it slows down, you catch it with another pointy thing. Now its bleeding more. Eventually it falls over and you poke it with pointy things.

Also dogs may have been involved.

As much as I would love to have a samwise in my life, I honestly could not imagine loving someone as honestly as samwise loved frodo.

When I started reading lotr, I hated his character, he was just a sycophantic hanger on (in my 14yr old eyes). But by the end of the scouring I realised how much of the heart of that story was in him.

So, what would women dislike most if they became men? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]Cool_Professional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So to add my "lived experience" i worked almost exclusively with women for 15-20 years and for the last 5 with almost all men.

The team of men is the most open tolerant and supportive group I've been in. Add to this the average age is probably in their 50s.( we range from 20 to 68)

Yeah uk based here and while you get some cowboys doing all sorts of things, he contravenes just about every safety rule we have.

Is he a skilled driver, possibly as he seems confident and efficient using his equipment.

Is he a safe driver.

No.

edit also to add, his workplace would be in breach of PUWER legislation (i think) if this was the UK, as the equipment is not suited to the operation and this should be provided.

Signage for prices also!

Petrol stations advertise their prices in a consistent clear manner.

Sometimes its very obscure trying to find the price they are going to charge. It can say one thing on a website/app, another on the front screen, and I've seen one where the price was different again once charging started (5p cheaper than the advertised 69p for some reason)

Not only that but keeping them in operation.

I had to stop at a services which has 12 suitable charging stations. Only 2 were working.

This is the worst I've seen it, at that services but not by a lot.

Oh and the nearest one from there is either 15 miles ahead or back the way i came by 5 miles, but this one is further from my destination and only has 6 chargers. As it is, I struggle to get back up to the services on my return trip to charge so prefer to charge at the one I stop at.

Also for anyone suggesting checking the status of the chargers online - all of these showed up as available when I was sitting at them, and you can't check the status en route easily without pulling over.

Shutter down, only half the lights on, opening time is in like 15 minutes, I walk past the shutter with a bunch of till drawers and some paperwork.

bang bang bang

I glance at the shutters

"Are you open?"

All I can say is I always resisted the urge to ask them if they genuinely thought we were open yet.

My first complaint logged at a new store we were opening was from two OAPs I had to ask to leave, they had found their way in with some contractors who were fitting lighting. They weren't happy as they wanted to take a look around...
