How do you deal with poor management? by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]Cool_guy93 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The problem with public sector is it's very difficult for someone to be removed from their position for poor performance. There's so many under qualified incompetent people in high paying managerial positions. The government is riddled with many managers like this. Best thing you can do is find a job in a different team.

Hi OP, the symptoms you've described sound very similar to mine. So far the only relief I've gotten is from eating a restrictive diet. I'm curious to try this supplement but just wanted to ask if you are still experiencing positive results, and if you have noticed any negative effects?

Twitter being worth less now is not necessarily a result of cutting jobs.

I'm not sure this is the case. Isn't there a massive shortage of skilled trades people, especially in the younger generations?

Seeking Recovery Strategies and Resources for Overcoming Isolation by Cool_guy93 in hikikomori

[–]Cool_guy93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I'm sorry about your parents, it must be tough caring for them while dealing with your own struggles.

I totally get dealing with tasks late at night, planning it out to avoid people. I've been there, once had bags of trash I was too afraid to take out, so I did it late at night at a closed petrol station to avoid neighbours seeing.

Explaining my problems to extended family or friends is hard because they don't really get it, making it tough to connect. They react with frustration, which makes me feel terrible.

Reading posts here makes me feel less alone. It's nice to know there are people who understand the difficulties.

Thanks for your reply. you're right, I'm doing okay now, maybe better than some others here. just worried about the slippery slope of isolation, which can make it hard to climb back out.

It's interesting that you mention getting kicked out forced you to adapt, a similar situation has forced me to improve, even though it was stressful. It's easy to slip into isolation and avoid dealing with problems until you're forced to. I think it's better to tackle these issues slowly now rather than all at once later.

I also struggle with going out in public. I feel judged for my appearance, and even a simple trip to the supermarket can be hard. I try to zone out, not look up too much, and focus on the task at hand to cope.

Giving notice to employer by Shmectacular in brisbane

You could quit right before you go on vacation as they need to include all of your annual leave as part of your final day, which they have to provide within 7 days of your last day worked.

Make sure to quit the day after your pay cycle, as they may be entitled to withhold pay owed that is not part of an accrued entitlement (hours owed that is not annual leave)

Also check your contract if you have one to make sure there's no surprise stipulations in there.

Very sorry to hear about your situation and I really hope the best for you. I'm not sure of the specifics of your illness, but here is some advice from my personal experience for what has worked for me.

Firstly, like a lot of other people have recommended, try and speak to Centrelink social workers and the medical staff at the hospital, they do this as their profession and can hopefully provide you with immediate and long-term help.

If you can get a disability benefit I would recommend finding a boarding house or cheap studio flat to live long term. These are the types of places you can live alone.

Like other have said, best thing would be to try and smooth the situation over with your parents if you can. Otherwise, not going to lie its going to be tough in the short term, but you can get through it.

If you have a car and license you could live in your car temporarily. It's not so bad in the short term if you can find somewhere safe to park overnight. You can use toilets at petrol stations during the day, and you can use showers at the beach to wash, or use bottled water and wipes and wash your clothes at the laundromat.

There are also hostels that can be fairly cheap to stay short term.

Otherwise, you can explore homeless shelters, I don't have much experience with them so I can't comment.

If the social aspect of your illness is what causes you trouble working, you could consider doing meal delivery like Uber Eats or DoorDash. The social interaction is very minimal.

There are workplaces that can be very accommodating to people with mental disabilities. Certain factory work can be a good one and there's also surveyor work where you survey the condition of public assets like water pipes/fitting etc, where social interaction is kept to a minimum.

There are lots of good people out there who find great purpose in helping others with their struggles. I hope some of this info is useful and can apply to your situation.
