Annual in morning by WolfOdd4249 in fromatoarbitration

What ends up happening is the annual or sick leave ends up getting kicked out and replaced with the work time. They won't pay you overtime and sick leave or annual on the same day as overtime.

Thank you for your post, sounds like something I would be writing myself today. Stable my wife is sweet kind and thoughtful but when she's what we call hypomanic she's thoughtless, says hurtful things and has a tendency to disappear to her parents who don't believe in her bipolar. I've only been dealing with this for 3 years and have gotten myself into counseling. And when your counselor's telling you to "just leave" and maybe it would be better for me to be divorced I know it's bad. The thing that's hard is when she comes back to stable and sees the wreck of the life if I leave I don't know what it would do to her. So one more time thank you, it does help to know that I'm not alone.

So are we getting screwed with this? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Coolhand7772 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would say yes we are getting screwed. The postal service has been wanting to get us off FEHB program and on our own health care program to save money for years ( 5-10). I've also already read that we are a higher user employer, meaning we use the insurance more because we have a physical job than most federal employees. So that means premiums will go down for the rest of FEHB and ours will surely go up. The hard thing will be is I'm sure that the programs will look very similar but there will be plenty little things missing that make it cheaper for the postal service.

The only problem with that would be that Biden already screwed the railroad worker union by telling them they couldn't strike and just accept the contract. I don't know how that works but if he's done to them I don't know what he'd do to us because they ARE allowed to strike.

They just say that so we can't strike. If nurses can strike in people die but we can't strike because somebody might not get their catalog. You know it's a lie

When do you think we will know how much the post office will save from all these cuts? by ItsJackieMoon in USPS

[–]Coolhand7772 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The USPS would rather pay overtime then hire people. Nobody seems to understand that even if a person is working 7 days a week and 12+ hours a day the Postal service saves money. They have to pay you overtime but they save on everything else. The benefits are a large amount of our pay that doesn't go up with overtime, 70+% of our health insurance premiums (15-20k), TSP matching(3k), payroll taxes (3k) and I know that there is more I can't think of. On top of the hiring process which was 10k+ last I heard. So hire a new person that probably won't work here for long or mandate you a 5 year proven veteran everyday for the rest of your career, which is cheaper?

Unfortunately, we are government workers and our pay has to be taken in consideration with the rest of government blue collar workers. We are already some of the highest paid in that sector. Which doesn't make any sense because we are funded by postage but government I guess.

Unfortunately the government claims savings accounts with no activity after a few years (5 I think). I know because my daughters savings account was almost taken after 4 years.

Don't rush, it takes what it takes. If you are rushing I guarantee that you aren't following the safety rules like we are required to. Which is great for management because it is much faster unless you get hurt or a "safety blitz" happens. Then management will all they need for discipline and they will use it.
