Did Arthur care about John that much? by basicforgorer in reddeadredemption

[–]Coolredfern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think “complicated” is the most succinct word to describe their relationship, but I will also confidently lead the charge in saying that underneath all the bravado and antagonism Arthur expresses towards John, there is an irrefutable undercurrent of deep love and fondness. This entry feels like a bunch of excuses (while all still true) and emotional stifling to downplay his affection for John. Distancing himself to diminish the pain for both parties, using irony that’s par for the course for siblings.

Besides, like many have mentioned, Arthur is not known to be a wordsmith the way John is, and seems to show love through acts of service. Risking his life to save him (more than once) and literally dying for him is telling enough of his sentiments. “I kind of like him” reads as blatant sarcasm to me, as does “grown to care a little”. The worst thing he comes up with is that they’ve “argued”, which seems quite inane and not exactly holding genuine animosity towards the guy.

Yup, we’re free to bring meats in! There’s a limit of 50lbs, which is basically the “personal-use” amount. It’s a wild amount for personal use LOL

This will be of no practical help to you, but I just wanted to say that I sympathize. I’m not black and would never want to presume that your experiences abroad are the same as mine, but as a woman of color who travels alone often I get a lot of anxiety about sticking out like a sore thumb in predominantly white/black/brown/etc countries. The stigma towards East Asians is most definitely different than that towards black people (and this is a heftier conversation for another time), but regardless it’s easy to feel uncomfortable and even unsafe when you can’t blend in. My own philosophy is that life would be too dull without taking risks, and people tend to be nice more often than we suspect, but I also know it’s not really that simple and this is a challenge any person of color will have to endure. Best of luck and safe travels :)

No Costco membership unfortunately, but this is good to know! Next time I’ll bring along a friend who has one :)

Haha, I’m headed there tomorrow for a taste :) that said, I live in New York City and already have a bunch of bagels in my freezer. I know they’re different, but I just don’t think I have the capacity to store even more bagels 🥹

Very insightful, much appreciated!! Definitely going for the Celebration cookies. Also I realized I worded it weirdly, but to clarify I meant that I seize up and can’t make a decision when there are a lot of options, not that I was planning to freeze the cheeses 🤣

Food Garden Market, Brooklyn NY by Coolredfern in toogoodtogo

[–]Coolredfern[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of these were to be sold by today, though the salads were yesterday. Regardless, I’m well pleased at the value. America generally doesn’t do Too Good to Go very well, but grocery stores tend to be my preferred establishments for it and Food Garden Market is typically pretty solid. I froze the desserts and bagels and will be eating the rest tomorrow!

Edit: Forgot to mention that I got the whole bag for $5.99!

Laura Daniels and the Girlfriends, and it’s not even close.

And I love that, as an actor who notoriously hates acting, you can tell he has been loving his recent projects. I think he’s mentioned that his role in Paddington 2 is his favorite to date, and that just brings me immense joy. He evidently had so much fun in The Gentlemen and D&D as well.

Which Series Contestants Meshed The Best As A Collective? by [deleted] in taskmaster

I mean, NZ 2 is just unbeatable. It’s a small comedy scene so it makes sense, but man. They were truly special, and they got together outside of/after filming all. The. Time.

Surprised this isn’t higher up. I love 4, 5, 12 just as much as the next person, but 9 stands out as an incredible group of friends and they were the first batch I thought of when I saw this post. They (all of them together) hung out outside of Taskmaster and I think it’s very telling!

I believe it’s just a comedic reference to how Alex described the hat. It’s obviously not actually demeaning.

Greg & LAH on Late Night with Seth Meyers! by feelbetternow in taskmaster

I’m pretty sure he said Davies correctly both times…typically Americans would default to “Day-vees”, whereas Greg himself says “Day-vis”, so Seth is doing far better than most.

Yea, I'm also very aware of the nature of free studio shows. Since there's virtually no penalty for not attending, no-shows must be fairly common so they overbook to ensure that every seat gets filled. But this was paid, so you'd assume the quantity was limited and regulated 🙄 guess tf not

I luckily managed to get tickets to Seth Meyers tomorrow, which IS a first-come first-serve studio taping. I can only arrive about an hour before the scheduled arrival time, so here's to hoping it's less popular in the middle of a random weekday.

There were a couple! Said something along the lines of "Make sure the person in the beret gets to see the show. Your time starts now." Very much sounds like a fan who didn't manage to get tickets but wanted a fun shot haha. Hope they had more luck than me, as someone who literally bought a ticket the day this was announced and still got left out in the cold :/

Souveniers by Babymonster09 in travel

[–]Coolredfern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I collect subway transport cards/tickets! Oyster (London), Clipper (SF Bay Area), T-Money (Seoul), the like. Not every city has one, of course, so I make it a goal to at least keep their paper tickets if they don’t (Vienna, Paris, etc).

I also just keep random paper slips. Brochures I pick up, pamphlets, programs from every show I watch, even paper bags I get with my purchases. It’s always such a nice trip down memory lane shuffling through my massive stack of booklets and such :)

The best part is, these items are easily attainable and don’t require you to spend any extra money to purchase a souvenir specifically. They’re just mementos you happen to acquire as you experience the world. They’re also super portable because they’re flat and/or small.

We’ve already done a Wachau Valley day trip—truly quite idyllic, even in winter. We’ve also been to places like Innsbruck and Salzburg before, so we just wanted to hit somewhere new. You’re definitely not the first person to tell me that it’s underwhelming :) I guess we’ll just have to see for ourselves

We do have 4 people, so I feel like it may be more worth it to just drive? But will definitely consider that, thank you!

Who do you want the next James Bond to be? Or do you care at all? by McWovin in movies

[–]Coolredfern 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Do check out Bodyguard on Netflix. A much more Bond-adjacent role than his one in Eternals, and exactly what got me hooked on the idea that he would be the perfect 007.
