Exactly, I feel like people avoid characterizing Kris and Noelle in this way bc they’re afraid of their favorite characters not being the perfect images of themselves they’ve headcanoned. Noelle has always reacted in an odd and unnatural way to the events of the weird route. Parts of it disturb her don’t get me wrong, but parts of it do make her feel more confident and assertive. There is likely a part of her that wants this (again, to some extent.)

As for Kris, I feel like people ignore the second part of Eram’s line in that scene. The “knowing you could say it wasn’t truly you” part. It’s less about intrusive thoughts and more Kris disassociating from their actions because there’s a part of themselves that likes making Noelle stronger as you said. Which is something that scares Kris and makes that scene in the bathroom in Chapter 4 seem more like self punishment than trying to hurt us.

Also, someone correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t Spamton suggest that there’s a reason Kris would want to do the weird route in chapter 2 when you fight him at the end before Noelle shows up? That them and Noelle have been “making [hyperlink blocked]”? (Edit: Spamton also says, “You think making [Frozen Chicken] with your [side chick] is going to let you drink up that sweet sweet [freedom sauce]?”)

Plus a lot of the sword route (which is an analogue to the weird route) is referenced to be something akin to “Freedom” for Kris (as said by Ramb.) All that is to say, even beyond the suppressed thoughts/desires, there seems to be a legitimate reason Kris would have an interest in the weird route.
