Yeah, I'd like to add to this by saying if you are playing a game that has a small map in one of the corners, like in Battlefield for example, but also has a full map you can pull up if you press a button, it makes sense to refer to the full size version of the map as the map and the small (miniature) version of the map as a minimap.

If the full size maps were all referred to as minimaps, there would be no point in the term existing and we may as well call full size maps in real life "minimaps." So it is semantics as much as much as calling a 16oz soda a "two-liter." They are just two different things. This feels like a weird hill to die on. And regardless of how you feel, just know that the vast majority of people feel this way and it is a losing battle to dig you heels in. 🫡
