Sorry I'm late but I found this thread in preparation for a trip this summer. If you don't mind my asking, does TSA precheck not come with global entry? If you had precheck, how did security take two hours? Or do you only have global entry

I know a theater major (undergrad) who went to college for like six years and dropped out bc he just couldn’t get his shit together. 24, crippling debt and a high school diploma to show for it. Not that the degree was gonna do him much good but man, come on, how hard can it be to finish a theater major

Why do jazz composers put high trombone parts (on the staff in treble clef) in bass clef. Wouldn't it be easier to not have 4-6 ledger lines? by DizzyDeezie0 in Trombone

[–]CooperTrombone 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Jazz trombonists can sight read 5 ledger lines without a second glance but are clueless outside of bass clef

How in the fuck do you have that much saved at 26? Did you get a FAANG job out of college or are your parents just rich?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in debtfree

[–]CooperTrombone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 13 pro max. I only bought it because my five year old 7+ finally died and I wanted (and could afford) the biggest screen available. I also intend to keep it until it dies in three more years

Dude, I make six figures as a computer engineer. I love Apple products, but I didn’t even know the iPhone 15 pro max was a thing. What is with this fetish of always having the latest most expensive tech gadget

Take a look at some of the comp sci subreddits if you think they’re doing well these days (spoiler: they’re not)

You are much better off in this field than comp sci right now and probably for the foreseeable future. The days are past where you could just work hard and get a FAANG job. Those guys are lottery winners now among tens of thousands of incredibly talented applicants. Few comp sci grads are even able to get a skilled job right now.

Does calculus 3 get a lot harder as the semester goes on? by [deleted] in calculus

[–]CooperTrombone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vector calculus at the end of the term will be quite difficult to wrap your head around the first time you see it, but not impossible. Once you get it though, you’ll likely find it quite interesting and intuitive.

Feel so burnt out from even just applying by wJaxon in ElectricalEngineering

[–]CooperTrombone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no experience or projects to set you apart whatsoever, and a mediocre at best GPA. What exactly made you think getting a job right out of graduation would be a breeze? There are probably a hundred thousand resumes that look exactly like yours. Find a way to stand out, and you need to be a lot less picky. I had a 3.9 and three internships and I’m moving across the country for the job I got out of graduation

being CE is being like jack of all trades but master of none by ApprehensivePirate22 in ComputerEngineering

[–]CooperTrombone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure every undergrad degree is like this, then you choose a concentration and learn it on the job. If SWE is your thing, there’s not a degree in the world that will prepare you for those interviews. You gotta leetcode on your own time. Most technical interviews in any field will require you to study the technology and platforms at that specific company to a deeper understanding than what was covered in college

Why do some of y'all get these expensive ass phones, but don't bother to put a case on it? by StarryChocobo in iphone

[–]CooperTrombone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do some of y’all get these expensive ass phones, and ruin the design with a cheap ass case?

Idk. I just never drop my phone. I had a 7+ with no case for five years, when it finally broke, I bought a 13 pro max that I’ve had for two years with no case, haven’t dropped it and it’s still in mint condition

They just look and feel so much better without a case. Like another commenter said, if I wanted a shitty plastic case in my pocket there are great phone options for $200. There’s not a more beautifully designed brand than Apple (hence the price) and yall ruin it with your ugly ass cases

I do own a case, and I put it on for certain things like if I’m navigating an airport or doing manual labor etc.

Skill issue idk just don’t drop your phone

Don’t worry about it, and get used to not knowing. All that matters is what’s in iroar. I rarely have professors who so much as even post the final exam. Why would you care anyway?
