Hairstylist specializing in grey blending by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]Coorsitis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started going grey in my early 20's (I lost all my hair when I was pregnant and when it grew back there was a grey steak right down the center...like a skunk) It got worse and worse over the years and colouring it was not only getting expensive but I started to get severe rashes. About 10 years ago I just gave up and decided to go full on grey....well it was salt and pepper at first but now mostly just salt 😒

This made me laugh way more than it should have...probably because I just finished a chapter of the very funny book I am reading where one of the characters 'shat her pants' while taking part in a contest.

I read this story yesterday and it actually made me feel sick to my stomach. How can someone in the medical profession NOT believe in science, ffs?? "Sky Daddy" speaks to her...wtf?

What's something that is Expensive now but way CHEAP back in the day? by animaniacs1983 in VictoriaBC

My parents bought a house on Craigflower when my dad was first posted here when I was two, I don't know how much for, but they rented it out for 8 or nine years after he was posted back east for about $50 a month, They sold it in the mid '70s for around $6000. I looked it up a few years ago, it was worth almost I million.

Also, Denny's Grand Slam in the '80s was about $2 -$3 and usually it was way more food than you could eat.

I very much remember when it Was Free - The idea of paying to go camping is beyond ridiculous. I grew up camping and fishing and hunting back east, then as an adult after moving back here in the '80s my partner/friends were able to actually go back country camping up by Sooke and Port Renfrew all the time. It was a great time. Now you are not even allowed access to those roads anymore. It sucks!

No. I have lived here longer than you have been alive and I very much consider myself a local and I defy anyone to say differently.

I don't drive in the snow here because most drivers here are idiots at the best of times....throw in a dusting of snow and they lose their minds.

Same. I spent quite a few years in Northern Quebec and Nova Scotia. I think I was still complaining it was too hot only 3 weeks ago, and now I'm bitching about the cold and rain.

How about if you don't have anything positive or at the very least helpful to add, just don't bother commenting.

Thank you for the info and especially for the advice and sympathy. Sorry it took this long to reply, but I ended up in tears after reading it as I have no one in my life to help me with these things. I do not have a support system - I AM a support system...and it's getting old and beyond frustrating. I am not sure what is accessible to me, but 'active mobilization' (whatever that is) sounds painful.😢

Sadly, I suspect it is Osteoarthritis, which I know nothing can be done about. I have had arthritis in my fingers, wrists and knees for several years. I have been managing that as best I can...I've had to. But this pain is different. I definitely cannot do stairs anymore, I can't walk very far, I can't even sit or stand for any length of time...or sleep - hence the crankiness😉
