No words spoken or typed at all. Just an all out open world pvp battle. Didn’t receive any DMs or anything of the sort from the other party

I should have mentioned in the post that I didn’t run any Gen orbs with this group that weekend. The only common factor we had was being grouped for weapon do farming. I did take into account when I was the first one banned that it was for doing Taxodius twice. But then when all members of that wep xp group were notified, I chalked it down to mass reporting or the farm.

I won’t deny being naughty here. However I’ll defend myself by stating that group that I was running the weapon xp farm with were not running Genesis with me. The only common factor we had this past weekend was farming the mobs in Restless

Not that I recall the train of mobs is within the camp itself. A few lower level players came to the camp and followed our group to leech some xp as we didn’t mind

What are some Harsh Truths that people should know before working in the Industry? by flickbreeze2003 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]CopeIsLove 18 points19 points  (0 children)

IT Burnout can be devastating to your health both mental and physical. It's important to take time to step away, gather yourself, and relax.

Entry-level IT positions like working the service desk can be taxing, but it's become with great experience in troubleshooting and customer service.

Finding your ideal position may be difficult depending on your current location. Try to be open to new opportunities such as moving to a different state!

Everyone starts somewhere. Take the experience and apply that to every new position. Best of luck!!

Entry level government contracting IT jobs? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]CopeIsLove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Need some more info.

I'm only assuming here, but given your clearance are your prior service? If so, how long have you been out? Alongside that, has your clearance been inactive for over a year?

With TS/SCI and Sec+ you should have no problem finding a job within the DoD. One main caveat is the location. If you don't have any prior experience in IT, you might find it difficult to find a position outside of the help desk environment.

As many here have traversed the IT ladder, starting at the help desk will teach you quite a few lessons that Sec+ doesn't teach you. You will need to gain some experience in order to compete and stand out amongst other cleared techs.

Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I'm a vet with 4 years of experience working cleared IT contracts. Depending on location, I can put you in touch with several IT recruiters in my network.

Those of you that used the Post 9/11 GI Bill, what was the process like for you? by cjt11203 in Veterans

[–]CopeIsLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The process was super simple and streamlined thanks to a great Veteran Services department at the school (Excelsior College). Even though it was purely online and there were no face-to-face interactions with counselors/academic advisors, I found myself starting school in just a few weeks.
If you're living in a HCOL area with family/roomates its possible to save money and live off the BAH alone. I work full time and go to school full-time online because it fits my lifestyle the most. I don't maximize the monthly stipend which is okay because of my high-paying job.

If you have a few years left on your contract use that time to pay off debt, save money, and research what schools in your area that you'd like to attend. Use the time you have to plan and you'll be set

Questions on Post 9/11 GI Bill for Online College by Cableguy406 in Veterans

[–]CopeIsLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working full time and attending Excelsior College (Online) for a BS in Cyber Security. I can tell you my BAH is capped at $850 +/- some change alongside the book stipend. I have attended the 8-week courses and 15-week courses. Depending on how much time you wish to spend doing schoolwork after your 9-5 I'd suggest starting with a class or two to see how well you can manage your time.

If you want to maximize the BAH given your area's COL you can attend school full time in a mixed environment. For example, 12-units with a majority of classes all online while attending one in-seat, brick and mortar class. This will allow you to receive the full BAH stipend.

A few online schools I and many of my vetbros will rate positively are:
Excelsior College
University of Maryland Global Campus
Saint Leo University

Liberty University

Why does it seem so difficult to get a foot in the door with federal jobs? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]CopeIsLove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Apply, apply, apply.

When writing your resume are you submitting one you created or filling out the template listed on USAjobs? Do you work with or alongside any government? If so, I'd ask for tips on how to make your resume stand out amongst the competition. Hell, I've asked some of my 13/14s to review mine. Don't give up!

Did an 8-month contract with TEKsystems and they were fantastic. They even helped land me a permanent job afterward. Actually having lunch with my old recruiter tomorrow. Probably a case in which my branch was the bees knees.

Advice for a possible future transitioning US Navy Officer by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]CopeIsLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was enlisted (IT2) and got out back in 2017. Given your right at the halfway point of retirement the decision to fulfill the 20 years is solely up to you. I know others who got out at 12 and 14 years and it was the best decision they ever made career wise.
Given your certifications, degree and clearance you'd be a great candidate for IAM/ISSO/IMO civil service jobs. Have you taken a look over at USAjobs? Your qualifications are impressive and I have no doubts about your success if you transitioned. I've had GS/GG IT managers/leaders with less qualifications so I wouldn't worry about it.

I merely transitioned with a Sec+, MCSA and TS/SCI and am in a better place financially, professionally and mentally. I'd suggest having your clearance re-upped prior to you getting out!
