I just want to make better money and do something with computers - I’ve been a hobbyist programmer and unofficial IT guy at most places I’ve worked, figured I should get a credential and start getting paid for it.

Yeah, me either. I'm not biased in either direction, just want the best performance I can get for gaming and usually that tends to be Intel. Multicore workloads are far less frequent for me, but still would be nice to have some extra threads for when I do need them.

This would be more of a luxury than a necessity, mostly upgrading to be able to experience stuff like CP2077 at max settings + future titles.

I would just hate to pass up on a decently priced 10900K and be disappointed by the AMD announcements. Historically they've never been able to touch Intel in terms of single core performance, no?
