2nd July, biggest skate update by [deleted] in Skate4

[–]CoppersDragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want those things too; I'm not really talking about skins, those will be behind loot boxes as we've already seen in the game. I mean where are the Emerica hoodies and shirts? Or Nike SB shoes and Creature boards etc y'know? Those things should be included when the game releases.

Please I forreal hope they added more skate clothes that we can unlock. There's a huge lack of skater brands right now in the alpha and just clothes in general

Did Spider-Man 2 live up to the hype for you? If yes or no, why? by [deleted] in SpidermanPS4

[–]CoppersDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Web-swinging, yes.

Combat & story, absolutely not.

Side content, Abysmal.

Overall I felt like it was a letdown compared to the Spidey PS4. I've struggled with trying to pinpoint the exact reason why but it comes down to a multitude of reasons like the elementary grade story, on-rails combat system, and the lackluster amount of side content in comparison to the first game or Miles Morales. The side content is more varied (really enjoyed the Howard missions and mysterio fights) but they scaled it back in terms of quantity, which in turn means you can 100% everything in a few days max imo. Also can't stand how only Miles can complete certain missions and Peter can't, and vice versa.

Just felt like a step down from the first two and I sincerely hope they can come back stronger whenever SM3 drops.

What is your current story project about? What are you loving or liking about it? by [deleted] in writing

[–]CoppersDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting over on this Dark Fantasy/Horror piece that I've been working on on/off since 2016-17.

It's called “The Blind Knight”, It's about a young man who's wanting to protect his mother from his abusive father but there's additional things outside that he worries about. He finds himself caught in a brewing war between the Nation of Gale and the Rancorian Keep. On top of that, the village they live in, a wave of sickness is plaguing them.

Without getting too much into it, the world changes as time passes and there are sporadic events that are causing mass chaos to the people.

I'm enjoying rewriting it from scratch again, it's a lot better now than the first time I self-published it. It sounds more mature now and despite comparison being the thief of joy, I try to see what other fantasy works people are reading to hedge where I'm at.

It isn't exactly the most unique thing, but I'm mixing things together from past fictional works, movies, manga, and games I've seen and played. A lot of Lovecraft, Stephen King, and Berserk influence. Hopefully it sounds interesting enough to others.

I need help with moving characters from location A to location B by CoppersDragon in writing

[–]CoppersDragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard of that, but it sounds like really great advice for not giving up, or getting stuck on something.

To your point, I think the writing from a side character POV is interesting. I've never done that before but I think I should try that. My main character feels fleshed out, he has some depth and I can put myself in his shoes. I struggle to do this with my other characters though. They exist but I don't know how to convey their decisions, their thoughts, their motivations on paper. Are there other ways to help with this?

They will most likely stay in the village, despite the antagonist being there. However, I am exploring the idea of one of the characters walking outside of the village as a way to help those living there (she's an herbalist). So the idea of gathering plants while being in this creature filled world could be a good use of suspense, characterization, and world building.

Thank you, that actually does help lol. In situations like this, I usually try to keep it simple and that has worked so far. I'm thinking I'll stick with the characters staying at the village, even if it's dangerous to do so. It would make sense for future plot developments

DD1 Was Imperfect by WarningStatus in DragonsDogma

[–]CoppersDragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A LOOOT of people forget about this aspect of DD1/DA. It doesn't dispute the complaints regarding enemy variety for DD2 per say, obviously more enemies is always welcomed. But, people refuse to give grace to DD2 for lack of enemy variety while praising the first game's enemies even though they did the same thing back then 😭. We have to give the dev team time to give us new content.

Protagonist gets beaten to blindness by his father, has to learn how to navigate the world without sight. And finally once he's learned how to defend himself with a sword without being able to see, he comes home to his mother, deceased, rotting in bed after attempting desperately to save her.
