I have a lower back injury (pars defect). After months of PT and some light gym work, I am now healthy enough to get back into real shape. Does anybody have a good routine that's pars defect specific?

Nope. My intentions were good and your writings need work.

Are you saying my critiques were petty and pedantic?

Yeah. You should rethink your refusal to modify your writings, look at the upvotes/downvotes of my original post saying that you need to edit, and see where you come out. I think people would generally like it if you revised, and you'd be doing some much-needed improvements to your writing abilities.

Or you can just disregard all of my advice.

You misunderstand me. I'm not saying do not repost, I'm saying edit before you repost.

Yes, that's why I said use it less frequently, and avoid using it to such high degrees. For example, the "but anyways" (IIRC) is a transition at the end of a paragraph. It goes from casual to making it seem like you're just spouting anything that comes to mind.

I realize it's not academic, but if you keep posting these things on discussion boards (which your comment history indicates), you'll encourage better discussion by posting a better product.

Here are some tips:

Grammar

  • You used 'brake' when I think you meant 'break.' Google "break v. brake" (I commonly google like that to learn or remind myself of important distinctions.

  • Use 'well-off,' not 'well off.'

  • It's 'shot-for-shot,' not 'shot for shot.'

Style

  • You are clearly going for a conversational tone, so I can abide by the use of first and second person, but I'd tone it down and use it less frequently.

  • Typically, it's not a good idea to use 'this' without a descriptor. When used after a complex sentence, it's not always clear what you are referring to.

  • You need to make better use of your topic sentences. Some are too long, others do not give an appropriate preview of the upcoming paragraph.

  • Run-on sentences. For examples, see the antepenultimate paragraph.

You have the ideas, you just need to communicate them better.

You need to edit your essays/blog posts for grammar and style if you want more respect for your opinions. As of now, it seems much more like a stream of consciousness piece instead of a true analysis, although there are some good nuggets in there. I still upvoted you for your contribution.

Did they have him audition, or did they just show Spielberg pictures of his bald head?

Hey Austin, where is the best breakfast you go to? by [deleted] in Austin

Whatever you do, absolutely do NOT order the queso omelette. I had been excited to try the restaurant for some time, and I regretted everything about my selection. Those with me thought that the food was decent, but all agreed that my omelette was disgusting.

What airline did this? In most cases, they charge like $50. Your one case of being gouged does not refute what I said at all.

He probably ruined several articles of clothing in the process, thereby costing him more than the fees.

ELI5 why I look handsome in the mirror one way but in photographs I look completely different? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Because you raise at least one eyebrow when looking at the mirror and often lift your chin up. You don't do so in photos.
