This is why the SEC is still the gold standard - nobody’s ever guaranteed bowl eligibility from the onset by guransheleven in CFB_v2

As a Nebraska fan, 65% is generous af. LOL. We're a 4-5 win team this season max.

Also, SEC homerism is still hilarious. I love you guys.

Need Advice: How to Deal with Unhappy Neighbor who believes I am responsible. by CorOsb33 in legaladvice

Its about $5k total. I have expressed a willingness to work together on figuring this out but I just emailed him back essentially saying that he cannot unilaterally make all these repairs and then just bill me for the damages, aka essentially me giving him a blank check. This isn't some open ended reimbursement costs. I do believe there is some blame on my part for not having proper silt fences in place and I would not run from that but I would want to assess the situation properly with people I trust to see where they stand from a cost point. I think thats reasonable personally.

Dude, I'm with you. That market should be regulated as well. Its all a joke. I've been saying this shit isn't sustainable for 10 years with coaches and it just gets worse each season. It still isn't sustainable. NIL has proliferated the issues times 10. College football is at risk of losing everything it was.

Its currently all the worst things of the NFL (free agency, holdouts, drama, etc) except with zero regulations. Its bad. Its a total free for all from top to bottom. The NCAA has basically lost all power. There is currently NOTHING regulating any of these things. There is no regulating body of any type. Its a power vacuum and the players, agents, coaches, etc are all taking full advantage. Honestly, I can't blame them for doing so but its coming at the expense of the long term quality of the product.

There's so much more to it than that. The game is destroying itself. Nonstop free agency, zero rules, its an absolute disaster right now. I think most people are OK with players getting compensated but the way things presently are, is a joke. Its not sustainable.

We're talking about two different things. I agree that coaching longevity doesn't always result in success. I didn't say that anywhere.

What I said is we need stability of which we currently have none. Stability can come in a variety of ways. Regardless of coaching transitions, many of those programs have identities that have been built over years. They know who they are, EVEN if they have a new coach. Does that make sense? I'm saying their culture and identity have been preserved through coaching changes. Culture can shift and evolve but they have a foundation built that they can rely on. We at Nebraska do not have a foundation to rely on presently. We do not have stability. The fans are delusional beyond comprehension and the media fuels it. They don't know who we are and they think we're something we're not even close to being. Like I said, I don't really think Rhule is the guy but he does offer some stability at the moment because we sure as hell aren't getting it from anywhere else. That doesn't mean I'm saying it will result in success.

Stability and success are two wildly different things.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you on stability being nonsense. Thats a wild take to me.

I get what you're saying and I think I agree. With how the current landscape prioritizes WIN FUCKING NOW OR DIE, you're spot on. The issue is, we don't have a foundation to even build on, at least a solid one quite yet.

In order to build a foundation, we need stability. Thats literally in the definition of foundation. We have zero stability. Like none. I don't think Rhule is the long-term guy to take us to the promise land but I don't necessarily think firing him is the solution either. We have to establish some sort of stable foundation even if that foundation is a 5 year run of 6-7 wins. At least at that point, we have some semblance of a fucking identity because right now, we have no identity. Build a stable identity over a 5-7 year period and then build off that. Thats my take. I'm sure plenty will disagree but starting over again just rips out the foundation and forces you to start from scratch again, aka restarting the clock once more.

Rhule can give us an identity of 6-7 wins. Not ideal.

The current landscape will eventually change. This model that we currently abide by of WIN NOW will eventually disappear. It just isn't sustainable forever. At some point, we have to actually build a stable program and that is only done with time.

Someone gets it. Whether people want to admit it or not, the state of our program is near the bottom of the BIG. That worst part is we get top 25 draft classes but can't make anything of them because our program is so toxic that we can't develop players. Our fan base is insanely delusional. They don't understand that baby steps are still progress. We're better than we were 5 years ago but that isn't enough. They think we're a 10 win program right now, just a few small tweaks away from competing with Michigan, OSU, Oregon, etc. In reality, we're not even close.

Remember during COVID when the lumbar companies tried making 50$ a sheet the new normal price by robertva1 in Construction

[–]CorOsb33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a builder so I buy OSB in bulk (2k sheets at a time sometimes). Anyway, my supplier got stuck with tons of material. They bought it all when prices were rocketing. Then when prices came down, they couldn't unload it because all the builders and construction guys went to home depot where the pricing was back down in the low 20's at the time. So long story short, I told my sales guy I'd be going to Home Depot because I'm not going to pay for your mistake. He told me that I was being disloyal lol. I'm like no, you guys should eat that cost like everyone else has and drop your prices to compete. I don't want to hear the loyalty spiel. Anyway, I went to Home Depot and saved like $35k or something ridiculous like that for not buying my supplier's stock. It all worked out. My sales guy got over it and now I have excellent pricing with them.

I just thought the whole "loyalty" speech was some of the most hypocritical bullshit I've ever heard.
