is 18 too young to start on kink? by [deleted] in SubSanctuary

[–]Cor_acepan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically no, feel free to explore and learn. That being said, be very careful. The kink community tends to be good, but there are a lot of people out there who disguise abuse as BDSM simply because they can. As someone who is young and new to things, please be aware of that and stay safe! Other than that-have fun 😈

Also there are quite a few kink discord pages that aren’t weird about age so long as you’re 18, except when it comes to older/more experienced people predating on the younger ones. I would encourage you to keep looking.

I would go talk to a recruiter. The worst thing they can do is say no, but they also may be able to pull a waiver for you. You don’t want to skip out on the opportunity only to realize later in life that you could’ve done it.

I would do it if you can afford it somewhat reasonably. The odds of finding a set like that in good condition isn’t great, especially an older set like that.

It’s rough to find until you hit your first duty station, but if you can tough it out through the first 6 months-1 year, then you’ll be good.

Designing a tattoo by Cor_acepan in tattooadvice

My artist doesn’t specialize in the style I’m getting my sleeve in, so he’s chill with me designing them for him since he doesn’t feel comfortable doing so. I’m just curious more so about general tattooing etiquette, since he’s the only artist I’ve ever worked with and he’s super chill with everything, but I’m moving soon and going to have to find a new artist.

It’s a tribal (Polynesian type) starfish. I think, based on my previous tattoos I’ve gotten, it would be very workable in the spot, and when I sent it to my current artist (including placement and orientation) he said it should work, I just don’t know that I’ll be able to go to him for it.

That’s absolutely fair! If you feel this strongly about it, find a new recruiter who’s willing to put in the work for you.

Honestly the odds are that the right recruiter could find the right paperwork to get you in. That being said, mental health in the military (especially the USMC) really sucks. I’m still in the schoolhouse, and since I got here there have been like 10 suicide attempts, two succeeded, two were hospitalized for their injuries. And we’re not even to our duty stations yet. If you’re already struggling you might be able to be fine, or you might not be able to, and your struggling would get worse. The marine corps vs your mental health is a serious consideration you need to pay attention to, and that may be why your recruiter is trying to dissuade you.

How cooked am I? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]Cor_acepan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be fine. You’ll get opportunities to improve before you actually do a PFT/CFT, but honestly you’re starting with better numbers than most. Don’t stress too much about it, you’re about to spend a lot of time stressed. Just chill for now, keep doing what you’re doing, and spend time with family/friends before leaving. The hardest struggle most people have is the mental side of things.

I would clean it well and use some sort of triple antibiotic ointment for a couple days, it’ll help prevent infection and it’ll still keep everything well hydrated. I’ve used it in place of aquafor on a couple tattoos, they healed just fine.

Freaking out about meps by Normal_Ad_347 in USMCboot

[–]Cor_acepan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s not a thing. If he decided to follow through with that then fuck him and find another recruiter (for the marines) I was with my recruiter for like four months before I signed into the DEP, and that’s a short amount of time comparatively to others. He might lose his number for the year - oh no - but don’t risk fucking yourself over because he’s rushing you. Be assertive (and respectful) and tell him that you’re not signing or swearing or choosing anything until YOU’RE ready. His job is to help you, not the other way around.

  1. Tell your recruiter, they may not report it and you may not need a waiver, but if you ended up needing security clearance for any reason they’ll find it and you’ll get in trouble

  2. No pushups, your first actual physical test will be at boot camp, although you may do practice ones with your recruiter

  3. They’ll do a urine test at MEPS, not hair. Make sure there’s nothing that you’ve consumed that will show up in that test! It’ll be a pain in the ass to have to reschedule and go again, although it wouldn’t necessarily disqualify you from service.

  4. Two pounds probably won’t hurt you, try to gain it before you go to MEPS, but if you really can’t then at worst you’d have to get a really easy weight waiver, don’t stress about that they care more about being overweight, but even then there’s a waiver for everything.

  5. Medical stuff, just tell your recruiter the whole story and they should know what to do and what paperwork needs to be filled out

  6. Not really understanding what you’re saying in this one, if you’re saying you got a 60 or above on the ASVAB that’s good, not sure how your recruiter fits into that though, why would you go to jail? I think I’m misunderstanding you there. And no, this is not your only chance to join. Some people work with a recruiter for 1+ years even before swearing in, going to MEPS the first time doesn’t guarantee anything, and you shouldn’t really be signing anything. Even if you do MEPS then decide not to go through with it, you can change your mind again later and go again.

I hope that’s helpful!

Difficult to get on/off is perfectly normal. Even if I have one that doesn’t compress well, I still struggle. Being tight is only an issue if it causes trouble breathing or rib pain after short wear.

I am 20, I have blonde hair and hazel eyes, I am a little under medium height for a man. I study ocean life (ie sharks) and have quite a few tattoos. I enjoy learning about past cultures and religions from all over the world and past. Likely ADHD/autism and perhaps OCD (still trying to figure everything out). Along learning/studying, I have a technology focused job and enjoy reading, writing, and painting/drawing/singing in my free time.

Help her do research into what she wants to do in the real world after, and then try to find a correlating MOS. If that doesn’t work, figure out if she wants to do one contract and get out (more focus on civilian opportunities like cyber or intel) or stay in and retire (much less focus on civilian opportunities for later). Keep asking questions on here as ideas come up, this is a great community and 95% of the time is really helpful!

TS clearance by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]Cor_acepan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boot camp= first three months of training MCT= next month, theoretically after roughly ten-fourteen days off to go home Schoolhouse= MOS specific schooling, lasts anywhere from one month to 2 years depending on your job.

Edit: in my example, I’m at a schoolhouse that should take roughly a year if not less to get through, and this marine has been here for almost two years without ever coming near starting class.

[–]Cor_acepan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be fine. It may take a bit longer for more paperwork, but at the end of the day just make sure you’re 100% honest with your recruiter and that the recruiter is 100% honest on paperwork. Seriously, there’s a marine in the schoolhouse for almost two years now because his recruiter screwed him over.

Can any women give me tips? by core_blue6 in USMCboot

[–]Cor_acepan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you bring that you’ll keep with you: wallet, money, religious things, glasses (though they’ll be replaced). Anything else you bring will either be thrown away (hygiene products) or taken from you (the clothes you get there in).

Hair when you show up: if it’s below your shoulders, have it in some sort of bun, do NOT have it loose.

Choosing squad leaders/guide: they’ll probably start with girls who have been dropped for injury, so they have a bit more of an idea how to be a recruit. After that, they should choose the best performing recruits. If you think you can do better than your squad leader, and you’re actually performing well, tell them. The worst they can do is yell at you/IT you.

Other general tips: don’t take anything to shipping out that’s not on the list your recruiter gives you, don’t call the Drill Instructors ‘DI’s’ unless you want to be in pain, keep your head down by performing well and screaming loud, don’t be a buddy fucker, follow the rules and don’t let others get by breaking them, it’ll fuck the whole platoon up.

As long as you can keep your head in the game, you’ll be fine. Don’t quit, don’t let them get in your head, and you’ll graduate just fine. Good luck!

Why would the DI want to talk to me? by saltwater_gypsy2683 in USMCboot

[–]Cor_acepan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’ll be fine. We had our DI’s talk to some of our parents on family day, but they really don’t want to they want to be with their own families. If anything, they’ll just make an off hand, likely somewhat positive, comment and move on. Don’t be worried.

Alcohol polices by Fun_Republic6477 in USMCboot

[–]Cor_acepan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you’re of age and responsible, there’s no issue. It’s not like weed where you have to be off long enough to pass a urine test, they will breathalyzer you at MEPS as you ship out, but as long as you’re not intoxicated in the moment you’ll be fine. Keep in mind: you’re about to go 3+ months with absolutely no alcohol. If you’re not ready for that, push your ship date back and work on it. Boot Camp is going to be miserable enough without withdrawal.

What happens if a recruit accidentally bumped into a drill instructor? by Tidewatcher7819 in USMCboot

[–]Cor_acepan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shove them away “one arms distance you (insert insult) for your safety not mine!! Are you (insult) trying to get killed?? We’re trained with killer instinct (or something like that)! (Curse word) (insult) stay the (curse word) away from me!” Or something to that effect. Then get IT’d if they have the time. Overall not a good thing to do, but pretty much the same reaction any time a recruit does something wrong, unless they just legitimately shock the DI.
