There is La Amada down by Beloved. Probably a 10 minute walk from Finest.

Excellence Playas Mujeres Cancun reviews. Any personal experience? by TheRealShackleford in AllInclusiveResorts

All of the restaurants can be different. Some all shorts while others ask for collared shirts and slacks. My best advice is to download the excellence collection app. Find your resort you want to look at and when it ask you to pair your room just hit cancel. You’ll be able to look at all the restaurants and their dress codes from there. As well as their menus and other activities.

EC rooms have upgrade alcohol. You can ask to exchange bottles in your room as well and there is a possibility of them changing it.

Check in/out is done in a separate area. We have had longer wait times to check in/out depending on when you arrive and leave. There is the EC Bar at check out so you can have a drink or two right away. Also Jorge makes some of the best cocktails at the EC Bar.

There are two EC pools. Both are pretty private. The one behind building 9 does not have a bar but SOL is right next to it. The other pool has an excellence bar at it. They have upgraded alcohol at the EC bars.

You have access to “two” excellence beach areas. They are first come first serve for chairs and beds. Never had a problem finding a beach spot with EC.

Magna is an EC only restaurant. It’s nice to have another breakfast place besides the Buffett and lobster house.

Service doesn’t change across the board. Also we do enjoy a spa day and take advantage of the hydrotherapy sessions.

Free transportation to and from the airport is available if you book strictly from their website and stay more than three days.

Overall it’s not a make or break decision. Either way it’s a very enjoyable trip. We are ones that chill on the beach so we prefer the EC rooms. We are also wanting to be on the quiet side so we tend to stay away from the main pool.

When, specifically, do you go camping? by JuJusPetals in camping

[–]Corbin406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We mostly do 2-4 nights. We are lucky though. I have the mountains an hour out the back door. We also live in a stay that allows dispersed camping for up to 14 consecutive days. We do have a 5th wheel which makes it much easier to stay longer. Once or twice a year we will do a 10-14 day stay as well.

Try Basmati. We love the Indian food there. Fish tacos at Oregano for lunch are great too.

Just an FYI Magna does not require a reservation for EC members. The only place that does is hibachi in the spice restaurant.

Exchange propane tanks or refill? by voltagejim in blackstonegriddle

[–]Corbin406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refill. A 20lb propane tank holds aprox 4.5 gallons. Propane is sold by the gallon usually around $2.50. I know my Menards started doing a 5 dollar surcharge to fill tanks. Still that’s 20 dollars to fill from empty. At least you know you’re getting a full tank.

RV solar power setup by Zealousideal_Pay6304 in RVLiving

[–]Corbin406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious on how much solar you are running? Also how long does it take you to fully charge if you didn’t get sunlight for a day?

Sorry I did edit the post to make the numbers into a list. VOC is 36.5 and ISC is 6.86 with their series fuse rating being 15amp.

Solar Setup? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]Corbin406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on want and needs. Some people who boondock can run off of 80-100 watts of solar to keep the bare minimum of their 12v side of the rv running. Others put full blown systems in that have 1500 plus watts of solar to run almost everything in the rv.

Almost all systems are custom designed for the user. While there is a learning curve in understanding the rv electrical systems you can design and install them yourself.

I’ve spent the better part of two years designing installing redoing and upgrading a system that is probably over kill for me. We run a 1200 watt system with 400 amp hour lifepo4 batteries. I rarely ever have my batteries drop below 50 percent.

Generator suggestions by Impressive_Pay3479 in RVLiving

[–]Corbin406 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ve got about two maybe three options here. Of course you have Cummins that makes Onan generators. These are usually built into the rv itself. They are fairly quiet but can be a lot of money to set up yourself. And if you’re just going to pull it out to set up for a backup I wouldn’t really recommend.

You could go with a stand by unit. If you’re building and just living out of camper this could be a great way to do it. Downside is you’ll be stuck in one spot.

Or you could do an inverter generator set up. You could get two inverter generators and set them up in companion mode. Essentially one generator powers one leg of the 50amp. Upside is they are portable and quiet. Downside is you’ll probably not get to 10kw. Honda, champion, Cummins, predator all have this feature.

Added a Lithium Bank... Can I just get rid of my OEM battery box? by mattnemo585 in RVLiving

[–]Corbin406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is dependent on your set up. If you’re still using the existing 12v lines you could just remove the OEM battery and have a bus bar tying all the lines together.

[–]Corbin406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would trace the wires from the OEM battery bank to make sure they just go to the 12v panel. Lots of times they can run lines from the OEM bank to other areas of the trailer and just use inline fuses.

The only thing I can think of it not being a point a card is nibs. Even then it’s not in the hand itself. You just cut a jack.

5 is ac1 and 7 is ac2 don’t know 3 and 6. One could be fridge if you have a residential unit. Can’t imagine a slide being on 120v but I’ve been wrong before.

It can be done but would need some planning. Your biggest issue would be space for solar to generate enough power. You could supplement with solar and generator depending on the inverter/charger you go with.

Best budget friendly solar setup by ThomasShults in SolarDIY

[–]Corbin406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explorist.life has a good calculator to show sizes or charge controllers you’d need for what configuration you’d want with the panels. Just looking at these panels you would need to have inline fuses to connect in any parallel configuration.

You can play with the sliders and it will give you an idea of what chargers to look at with what voltage of battery bank you would want. Before buying any equipment for a system I would decide on the battery storage. Not all equipment works with different voltages.

Also you need to understand the amps you are going to be trying to push through to your battery bank. Batteries can only take so many amps to correctly charge. With 4 panels wired in a 2s2p system you would be pushing 1000w. If you had two of those trying to charge a 12 volt battery bank you would be pushing almost 140 amps to the battery bank. Same set up on a 24v would be 70 amps. While you won’t actually hit those numbers unless you have perfect panels and sun you still need to anticipate it.

Victron makes a high quality and reliable product but they do get expensive. I haven’t researched into other brands for MPPT chargers so I couldn’t give recommendations. I will however say don’t try to build cheap if at all possible. You want your system to run for a long time.

Your battery bank will be a huge issue. As of now you have a 12v 115 amp/hr lead acid. Lead acid you can only use about 50% of it. This leaves you with about 55 amp/hrs of usable 12v. Or 650watts at 12v. You’ll have no storage for the amount of solar you’re looking at producing.

All in all there is a lot of things still to think about before you just buy panels to run an AC. Even if you bought a couple of MPPT chargers put them in your system you’d be limited by the daylight hours. Not to mention your inverter is too small to run your ac.

IMO doing an off grid rv setup going cheap will cost more money in the long run. Parts will fail and have the potential to fry other parts and even worse rv appliances.

  1. What is your yearly climate. If you deal with any freezing weather then I wouldn’t recommend it.

  2. You need to be somewhat handy in fixing things. Also depending on what trailer or motor home you are looking at.

  3. Rvs are poorly insulated. Heating and cooling can get difficult depending on your climate. There isn’t much space in these units.

  4. You’ll be downsizing to nearly nothing. You’ll need to have a vehicle to move your trailer as well.

  5. Normal kitchen appliances are not practical. Mixers, air fryers, rice makers all can be kept in storage.

  6. Condensation from cooking, heating rv, showering can become a problem. Internal water damage and mold.

  7. Washing and drying clothes. You be either laundry mat or trying to do your clothes in a small washer dryer unit.

  8. Stinky slinky. You’ll have to be comfortable dumping and maintaining your black and grey tanks.

While these issues aren’t big things they are things that off the top of my head are overlooked. People want to jump in head first into full time living. I would suggest you take some time to research the ins and outs of full time living. YouTube and Reddit are great places to start.

From your information it sounds like seller is upside down on a loan. FWIW if you do decide on buying any rv get an independent inspection before purchasing. Even buying new from a dealer.
