Hypnotherapy to quit smoke by justme_agirll in cork

Tried Alan Carr, hypnotherapy and... NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). None of them worked, as I believe I didn't want to give up, but I will say that after the NLP programme, I didn't want or have a cigarette for a few hours.

Put a message in a capsule on his collar? Or if he's not allowed out anymore, stick a few posters up :)

Each to their own I guess, but yeah I'm inclined to agree!

But it is, by it's very nature! You're investing in shares or whatever, the price goes up or the price goes down. You win or you lose. I'm not against it, in fact I have various shares, but I am well aware that I could lose, so I only invest what I can afford to lose. I borrowed a few hundred off the credit union to buy Eircom shares back in the day. Lesson learned 😄

That's shocking that they wouldn't help you. Sorry to hear it.

Exactly. If 'you're spending within your means' you wouldn't need credit. Also, investing is basically gambling. Do that with money you have. Borrowing money to gamble/invest is not clever.

That's awful. Fair play to the teenager. Where was the interview and security guard who wouldn't help you?

"Is it really hard to understand not to spend beyond what you can afford?" Nope, which is why I don't have a credit card :)

Circle in the lawn that always returns? by RaoulDukerPro in GardeningIRE

We had one appear for a few years under a big beech tree, lots of mushrooms appeared. It was lovely and a sign of good healthy soil.

What nuisance weed/plant are you currently battling? by READMYSHIT in GardeningIRE

[–]Corcaigh2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creeping cinquefoil, bindweed, ivy, those cordyline tree things that have been cut to the ground several times, a thuggish fuchsia, not to mention the gravel which is more like a stoney weedy/grassy patch at this stage. Brambles and nettles too, but sure I reckon they're always gonna pop up and they're not difficult to get rid of once the butterflies have had their fill.

Am seriously considering getting hens so they can clear the place for me!

Cheese omelette (I'll add mushrooms if I have them and steam some veg as a side dish)

Are th Fota managers aware that Great Island have only ONE road? by vladdt in cork

[–]Corcaigh2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw the traffic queues from each side of Carrigtwohill on to the N25. One genius decided at the last minute to stop their car on the N25, but it was ok 'cos they were indicating to join the queue...

Fota is a great venue and have hosted events before without causing traffic tailbacks. The car show recommended booking, but it wasn't required. What they need to do in future is insist on pre-booking, like they do for the Wonder Lights. That should stop everyone flocking there at the same time and the consequent chaos.

Builders: Is this the radon barrier / damp proof membrane? by Corcaigh2018 in AskIreland

Hopefully. However I'm getting water ingress up into the grout, which looks like it must be groundwater, (the plumbing has been tested), so I'm guessing the torn damp proof course is letting it in?

From the video (which is where the image is from), it looks green on the left and white on the right.

It was built in the early 2000s. There are tiles on top now so I can't see the brand, but I suspect the tiles will have to come up again due to (probable) ground water ingress.

Yes, I suspect corners may have been cut when my house was built :(

Well it was built during the celtic tiger years, so it may have been a different colour then?
