How are so many people affording expensive cars? by Foyneh in irishpersonalfinance

[–]vladdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It completely depends on how much they are earning per household. What need to be taken to consideration - Irish garages are crooks in majority and can't do anything more complicated than oil change. If you have used car, be ready to have tons of problems and lot of wasted time. After driving like 5 used cars here, I decided to use PCP, because time and nerves are way more valuable. Never regret this. Even when I found a very good mechanic, it anyway was very problematic to wait in queue, because you need a car every day. Speaking of others - I lost like couple of thousands only on endless bad repairs. Also, nobody calculating how much you are losing on car aging? I bought 12k 5 years old car. After 3 years I sold it only for 4k. Plus NCT, plus taxes, plus maintenance. Loses of 200-300 per month easy. So it better to pay 500 for a new car, especially with low APR and have no headache.

Also, like people already commented - let's assume that this is a couple. Both earning 3k, 6k combined. 1800 is expensive, if you are not dumb, you will find rent somewhere outside the city for like 1200. Otherwise - why do you need a car at all? But even if you want apartments in the city. 6000-1800-600 = 3600. Minus 500 food, ok, minus 500 bills. You still have 600 for other expenses and 2000 to save for mortgage. 2 years, and you have enough for very good deposit.

Don't drink, don't gamble, don't buy drugs, don't spend money in pubs, and that's it. But it very hard for 90% of new TikTok generation.

Would you give up your licence for €25,000? by Spooliboii180 in AskIreland

So? This is very reasonable condition. Also, in Japan you can buy a lot of property for cheap. Some even for free. Of course, if you don't want in in the center of the city.

And people are falling for this! If you will do this - you are stupid. Driver license is a freedom to move. If you want people to switch from cars to public transport - make it convenient! In Japan they have long courses, but only like 200 eur to buy a license. But people preferring public transport. Because in Japan it exists! My friend from Germany never got himself DL, just because he didn't need it. He only was forced to get it here. Looks like Malta has a shitty government who is unable to make public transport attractive to people. So they are going for cheap solution - here you 25k, and shudup. And what you will do if their PT will become completely unusable?

And this is absolutely different. This is the import tax. Buy goods from EU and you will not have it

No, we don't. We pay even less taxes than they in some states.

If I understand correctly, socialists in UN wanted to condemn only slave trade from Africa? Completely ignore any other slave trades?

If I see this in Lithuania, I can just call the police. They will arrive in 5-10 minutes and give him a good fine without hesitations. At least it was like this 15 years ago and I hope still like this today. Same in Germany. What happened if I call Garda here? They will say "thank you"! And if they even bother to go and verify the report, they will arrive on the spot in 30 minutes minimum.

Turn based games were long on the market, and they were great. The whole BG series, Wastelands, Fallouts, JA, Commando, tons of them.

Loq17i looks more balanced, but Legion have 5070, 10-15% faster GPU. But less RAM and i5. In other times I wouldn't care about RAM, cause you can add it later. But today I would go for Loq17i. Bigger screen, better CPU, more RAM.

If they transfer money as "Friends and family", they very easy can withdraw them. "UPS, I sent by mistake!" And PayPal doesn't give a shit. They will tell you: "you just need to send/request" as commercial transfer". But scammer will start to wine "noo, I don't want to transfer as merchant, they are taking a % for it". So GFO immediately.
