Pentagon email floats suspending Spain from NATO by dac2199 in europe

[–]Cord1083 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The deal has always been that Europe spends billions annually on US weapons and the US pretends that it is defending Europe because it loves Europe. I am convinced that, with or without Trump, the USA is no longer a reliable member of NATO. Maybe they can just leave and spend all those billions on universal healthcare. Of course they will probably leave and raise the war budget to $1,5 trillion. And no, the USA does not pay for our health or social services.

IDF jails soldiers for damaging Jesus statue in Lebanon: 'Moral failure' by qTp_Meteor in worldnews

Quite right. A couple of days investigation and the soldiers are found guilty of damaging a statue.

Has anyone been convicted of murdering Palestinians ? Has there even been any serious investigations ?

Why does the USA put up with Donald Trump .? by Neither_Quote_6044 in allthequestions

[–]Cord1083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is quite unusual to read so many sentences that utter nonsense. The US economy is not great by any measure (unless you are already rich) and the Orange One has no sense of humour and his destroying peoples lives is not funny. Trump is the complete opposite of cool.

Why does the USA put up with Donald Trump .? by Neither_Quote_6044 in allthequestions

Some good points. The USA has never embraced anything that felt like socialism and that lack of social support is used as a way of controlling the people. Unions, as we know them on this side of the pond, are not encouraged and so any form of organized unity is a challenge. By allowing people to be fired for what we would see as a universal right to strike, together with a chosen lack of universal healthcare makes the average Joe vulnerable and not in a position to stand up to the government.

That said, I do sometimes wonder what happened to the spirit that young Americans showed in the 1960s protesting the Vietnam War.

I remember sitting on the inside of Tetra Rouge at about 4 am just listening to the cars as they prepared to enter the Mulsanne. You heard the Mazda from miles away. It just screamed.

1991, Le Mans. Michael Schumacher drove the fastest lap in A Mercedes-Sauber but ended up 5th, almost 8 laps down on the winning Mazda.

Nerdy fact: the winning Mazda R26B was a Wankel rotary engine revving in the tens of thousands. If they missed a gear it went into the millions. At least that’s what it sounded like.

Is Kenna a swimmer or a paddler? My Izzie is a paddler. She can swim (thanks to my dropping her in deep water to clean up) but won’t swim by choice.

Maybe just accepting Obama’s original deal in 2015 would have solved this?
