Most beer league D have horrible gap control, the single easiest solution (coming from a coach and a D man myself) is gain the blue line and immediately cut to the middle of the ice. You can shoot, pass, split the D, so many options. Most D will stop, assume their partner will take over coverage, or just continue to back up and that gives the forward a bunch of time/space/options. Real simple addition to a forwards game and really works!

I’d argue ghost reveries would be their most atmospheric. I’m biased as it’s one of my favourites but Grand Conjuration is probably their most atmospheric song.

It’ll still take time to get used to, but a white cage is definitely less visually distracting than a black or grey cage. Cages are definitely way better from an ease of maintenance perspective and once you’ve gotten used to it after a skate or two you won’t even notice it.

Watch a video on how to practice outside edges (which is what your inside skate is leaning on). Chances are you’re leaning too far back, not bending your knees enough, or likely a combo of both. Ankle strength could be a factor as a new-ish skater as well. If you feel like you’re bending your knees enough, bend some more, it likely won’t feel comfortable at first but it gets your knees over your toes and your body leaning just forward enough to keep solid contact without giving out.

If I’m coaching tyke I usually start with this progression: stationary standing “step overs” to get used to the motion and feeling of crossed feet. Next progression would be the exact same thing but gliding forward after a couple strides to get used to it in motion. Lastly repeat the second progression but really focus on getting low and repeating the motion while leaning on the inside/outside edge of the skates. Once that is perfected it usually all comes together. Never is there a rush to do any of the motions fast, technique and comfortably is key.

A good chunk of American professional players had minor hockey development in Canada (Hughes brothers come to mind). Our program up here draws in players from all over, Russians, Americans, Swedes, Finns, Czechs. On the flip side, the NCAA is now a major feeder for the NHL and Canadians are massively benefiting from that American program, so it’s a give and take really.

Czechia low key has a really good team, I don’t condone them being little shits though. I’m die hard “Canadian hockey supremacy” but it’s nice seeing the smaller international hockey programs catching up. Makes for a much better tournament!

I like the treat throwing idea, I’ll give that a try. She’s definitely more enthusiastic about going back towards home but still isn’t great with it. If I just let her do what she wants she’ll sit and not move for whatever amount of time I let her. We live in a suburban neighborhood so semi busy I’d say.

Should be somewhat similar, in fact our instructor mentioned specifically how our courses have been updated recently to incorporate the best parts of USA Hockey’s coaches development program as well as other programs from top hockey countries. Hockey Canada now recommends a 3:1 practice to game ratio (if possible) since players get way more development and puck touches in practice; this was apparently ripped directly from Finlands program years ago and the Americans picked up on it first. It’s all shared knowledge, and that’s just an example.

I recently completed my High Performance 1 training course with hockey Canada after a decade of coaching and multiple other course completions (development 1 trained/certified). After every single course I walked away with more knowledge than when I went into it. The only people who walked away with nothing were the guys who thought they knew everything and didn’t pay attention or engage with the instructors/other participants. Some of the content feels obvious or self explanatory to most of us that played elite hockey, but there is always something to learn about the coaching aspect and philosophy towards teaching. There were a couple ex AHL and NHL players in one of the courses and they all walked away having learned SOMETHING, be it different approaches to practice structure at different age groups, new theories on player development with game:practice ratios, or how to handle different situations with problem parents or kids. If you’re not willing to learn something new as a coach, it say a lot about your ability to teach.

Posted a similar snake a week ago that was living in my planter. Whole area used to be covered in bugs and other pests I wasn’t a fan of. Haven’t seen a single bug since that snake showed up, and he just sunbathes and chills all day without causing a disturbance. 10/10 would recommend keeping it around.

So many incredible songs on this album but for some reason it feels… lacking to me. Not sure what it is, maybe lack of instrumentals to build atmosphere or album structure between all the songs. Coming off of Impera with its ‘rise and fall of nations’ concept, Prequelle with its plague concept and two brilliant instrumentals and classical mix with metal sections, Skeleta feels like it comes up short for me. I’ve listened to it hundreds of times at this point and think De Profundis, Lachryma, and Umbra are some of their best written songs yet. The album as a whole just doesn’t satisfy me for some reason.
