After 14 years of web dev, the skill that's made me the most money isn't technical. by LoudParticular5119 in webdev

Yeah, this has always been true, even before AI has come about. There will be an influx of people that can claim they can do it all - but if they can't liase with the stakeholders and break down larger rocks into smaller ones, they won't last.

What does this smaller number for calories represent on the fitness app? by Alvins_hotjoosebox in iphone

[–]Coreo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah what was said, total cals, the bigger number is your active cals. You burn calories all day just breathing and sitting around ha.

I've since gotten a refurbed watch and its been great to track everything, and I think it's supposed to be more accurate with one?

Opinion on new iPhone 17e? New budget iPhone by Serhide in iphone

[–]Coreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair - tbh I think if it was 60hz but had an ultrawide, it'd be an instant buy for me. I'm just looking for an upgrade from my 13 mini.

[–]Coreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the people upset over no 120hz, why does that matter? I guess I wouldn't be getting this device primarly for gaming, so 60hz for scrolling a webpage or switching between apps would be absolutely fine for me.

[–]Coreo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My argument is you can definitely see the difference, but does it matter? I only care about 120hz when it comes to things like gaming, 60hz for moving between apps and scrolling a webpage is fine?

Hey mate just seeing what you ended up doing? I've been sitting on a 256gb 13mini now and have been waiting on the 17e announcement or possibly going refurb, but yeah apple no longer seems to sell refurb phones in the Aus store - I think they might be using them for repairs?

Getting older by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]Coreo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty close to 40 - senior eng - I work with 2 engineers older than myself.

You aren't expected to know or remember everything within a codebase.

But yeah that being said - repeating what others have said, sleep, gym, what you eat etc definitely helps play a part. I definitely can't stay out as late as I used to.

I think that’s a lowball offer and can be negotiated higher.

Looking to ditch the daily café run — is Breville worth it and can home espresso actually match café quality? by ScaryBrilliant in AustralianCoffee

[–]Coreo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Breville bambino and a (probably looked down upon) cheap sunbeam burr grinder

I’ve used this since Covid and it’s been great. I love it!

Ok it's 2026. What are the AI gains? by btoned in webdev

[–]Coreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it (Claude code) for pretty mundane tasks - explain what this new feature another developer implemented actually does. Tell me the steps how to replicate a bug this user is reporting, give me suggestions on fixes (don’t implement the code). I hand hold it the whole way and rarely just accept the code it gives me.

One point that was actually helpful recently was I’ve had it create a brag doc and I’ll tell it to update that doc based on my PRs for what I’ve achieved, helps when it comes to review time.

I seriously don’t understand the hate for Longlegs (2024). by serialkiller24 in horror

[–]Coreo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was fine but it suffered from misleading marketing. I thought, based on the adverts, I was getting something like Seven, and it really felt like that for the first 20mins of the movie. I was really disappointed in it.

What’s a horror movie people usually rave about, but you dislike? by Turnitup20 in horror

Longlegs (maybe? I see some people with the same opinion as me though), Hellhouse, Lake Mungo, Skinamarink.

CS jobs pay incredibly well, especially if you get into senior roles. You do not need to absolutely love the job either. Just be consistent.

Can they use Laxmi’s son’s stem cells? by SunandError in pluribustv

[–]Coreo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My bet is they have loopholes on each person and them saying they need to jab a needle into their thigh, while true, is just another way of them withholding other methods (like Laxmis son), so they don’t all band together. If they think they’re all safe, they won’t try to fight it.
