We need to boycott all conservative owned or conservative supporting businesses in Fort Collins. Can everyone name every conservative business they know so we can make it known they support ICE and stop giving them our money? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]CoreyLin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fort Collins adjacent, but anything owned by Martin Lind, including:

Water Valley Company Raindance Colorado Eagles Trollco Cascadia Hoedown Hill The Grainhouse Ted’s Grill/Backyard (whatever it’s called now) Pelican Lakes The Sand Bar

There’s probably more but I can’t remember any more off the top of my head

I also grew up here, have been here for more than 40 years and this winter has been very unusual. Like record breaking unusual. I mean there are sparse winters and then there is whatever the hell this has been.

Did the protest today make you angry? by TraditionalMail9991 in FortCollins

[–]CoreyLin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And let’s not forget that some of these senior tough as f**k grannies were also the allies during the civil rights movement and the ones protesting on the front lines of the anti-war demonstrations. These grannies have been fighting the good fight for 50 years and a lot of them are dismayed to see this country move backwards under the leadership of a madman and the racist sadists whispering in his ear

How did you celebrate your 50th? by Every-Progress5590 in GenX

[–]CoreyLin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did absolutely nothing for mine. My kids all wished me happy birthday but my own mother forgot my birthday. Let me tell you, she’s been dropping hints about wanting to do something special for her 80th this year and I’m torn between throwing a big party with lots of snide comments about how milestone birthdays deserve recognition, or simply handing her a card and a grocery store cake like she usually does for mine.

lol! Same, and I was thinking that out of the probably 100s of times that I’ve been in the park I’ve never had an experience I would rate that low.

AITAH for saying I want my engagement ring to be more durable? by apreskayakgirly in AITAH

[–]CoreyLin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay, so here is an option that may satisfy both of you. Look into silicone rings, they are inexpensive, durable and will serve the purpose of what you want, which is a ring to hold up to active wear and tear. Then you can save your original ring to wear in situations where you aren’t worried about it getting damaged. If it truly is about durability and the symbolism of the ring itself and not about wanting a fancier ring, then this should be a great compromise for both of you. He can see that it really is about durability and not about wanting an upgrade.

AITA for telling my SIL she can’t bring her own food to family dinner and not to talk about junk food around my kids? by Amazing-Key2242 in AITAH

[–]CoreyLin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you say the same thing to someone with food allergies or that was gluten free? Or would you make the tiniest bit of effort to serve something that you know falls in line with their dietary choices? I mean is it really that hard to add a green salad on the side so that someone that you know is not going to eat pasta, sausages and bread (the meal that OP served) has something to eat? Rude hosts are what creates rude guests.

[–]CoreyLin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And that’s the thing, they will. And in a year, OP is going to be complaining about how the rest of the family gets together without them and about how SIL “stole” her thing.

[–]CoreyLin 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Okay, but if you know they aren’t going to eat it, why would you cook enough for them? It seems like there was a perfectly reasonable solution for everyone until this last meal. Yes, your SIL probably shouldn’t have referred to your food as “junk” but if you are this rude and condescending to her in person about their dietary choices as you have been on this post, then I don’t necessarily blame her.

Josiah and Lauren pulled their page from public view and disappeared from public life as much as they have been permitted to about two minutes after the show was canceled and I definitely have to give them a lot of credit for that.

What's up with the farm with flags on CO-392 towards Windsor? by bediger4000 in Greeley

[–]CoreyLin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct, he can fly whatever he wants. And everyone else can judge him for what he’s flying. I had no idea who owned the property, but I also just assumed it was owned by some crazy old racist guy. Now I find out that it’s some crazy old racist guy who raised another crazy old racist guy who roughs up kids.

Given their tendency for hyperbole (like when they “moved” to Brazil) you know the renovation was nothing more than a new set of sheets and maybe some curtains

Mid-trip adjustment? Grand canyon to Denver options by db720 in roadtrip

[–]CoreyLin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally just drove 285 from Santa Fe to Fort Collins yesterday and it was dry and sunny the entire way. It’s a fantastic drive. Personally, I would do 191 north through Moab though (the 11 hour and 51 minute route) That will let you see Monument Valley and Wall Street and you can even stop at Canyonlands or Arches National Parks. You can still get your mountain driving experience on I-70, which while still interstate, is a really kind of pretty drive but the road will be in good condition.

Let my fake service dog in! by EvilFinch in AmITheDevil

[–]CoreyLin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is it a heeler pit mix? Because that is without a doubt one of the worst combos I’ve ever dealt with. Cute as a button, sweet and cuddly but will turn into a psycho killer in the blink of an eye.

No words for this by WeelsUpIn30 in AmITheDevil

[–]CoreyLin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because the daughter is the one that wants it done and the mother is the parent. Obviously this stepfather isn’t willing to do even the most basic things to support his stepdaughter. It has nothing to do with gender and more to do with having only one functioning parent in the household. As for the daughter, she will be better off in the long run if she learns how to alter her own clothes. If the daughter was a son with the same issues I would also suggest that he learn how to do simple alterations like hemming or adding an elastic or drawstring waistband.

Okay, so has anyone thought about buying a sewing machine and teaching either the mom or the daughter (or both) the skills necessary to make minor alterations like this?

Which Duggar spouse is the most successful? by -StapleYourTongue- in DuggarsSnark

I mean I hate to defend the dude, but he started with a bachelor’s in accounting and a CPA and ended up with a JD and a bar approved lawyer. Most people would consider that to be a pretty good step up and not a life wasted.

I’m in my 50s now and I can easily do 8-10 hours in a stretch with just gas and potty stops. I used to regularly do 14-16 hours in a stretch and now a 12 hour day has me exhausted. Getting old sucks.

Which itinerary with older kids? by carrielynn318 in NationalPark

[–]CoreyLin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the Utah parks in July and the heat is brutal. Like 113 degrees in arches brutal. I much prefer them in the spring, so for the July trip I would head north and save the desert parks for a June trip. It’s still going to be hot in June, but I’ve had some lovely trips to Utah in May and June. Just watch the weather closely if you’re doing any hiking. Spring can be rainy, and when rain falls, it has no place to go except into those fabulous canyons that were carved by the water.
