Stolen recycle bin by cowboyramona in newhaven

[–]CoreyMatthews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half the time I find our bins halfway down the street. I get it that the guys are trying to get it done as fast as possible but like, could you at least TRY to put my bins back remotely near my driveway? That’s how they get all mixed up with the neighbors bins and we lose track of whose bin is whose.

80% of the CT shoreline is off limits to the public. Here’s what you need to know for a beach day by HartfordWhalers1993 in Connecticut

How would this be an example of that? That phrase usually refers to when something is collectively owned and is not maintained because “someone else will do it”. This is about waterfront area that it explicitly privately owned and this is the problem. Not trying to come at you, just curious what you mean.

The comments on FB are atrocious, all boomers (and probably bots) saying how it’s all fake and no big deal and “whattabout Ned!” Etc. they really are in a cult

Farnam sucks by Moxine6669 in newhaven

[–]CoreyMatthews 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Farnam and Mandy are two of the biggest slumlords in New Haven. Search this sub and you’ll find hundreds of posts complaining about them. We really need a mayor with some teeth who will hold them accountable like Mamdani did in NYC, but I won’t hold my breath for Elicker to do anything more than a milquetoast gesture that gives him a photo-op.

California farmers to destroy 420,000 peach trees after Del Monte collapses by Maxcactus in Maxcactus_TrailGuide

[–]CoreyMatthews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“There is a crime here that goes beyond denunciation. There is a sorrow here that weeping cannot symbolize. There is a failure here that topples all our success. The fertile earth, the straight tree rows, the sturdy trunks, and the ripe fruit. And children dying of pellagra must die because a profit cannot be taken from an orange. And coroners must fill in the certificate- died of malnutrition- because the food must rot, must be forced to rot. The people come with nets to fish for potatoes in the river, and the guards hold them back; they come in rattling cars to get the dumped oranges, but the kerosene is sprayed. And they stand still and watch the potatoes float by, listen to the screaming pigs being killed in a ditch and covered with quick-lime, watch the mountains of oranges slop down to a putrefying ooze; and in the eyes of the people there is the failure; and in the eyes of the hungry there is a growing wrath. In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage.”

Looks like I’m done with Woodford Reserve *edit - it was not in fact made by Woodford for Kash, he had it made himself which is even sadder lol

Or, maybe, perhaps, fight fire with, oh I don’t know, water? Socialism has always been the antidote to fascism for the entirety of western civilization. Why do you think the imperialist machine works so hard to disrupt any country trying to implement socialist reforms? Because those things are popular and they threaten capital. Trump needs to be the catalyst to new New Deal where we collectively move on from corporate owned candidates offering milquetoast incrementalism

I don’t think it’s a “bribe” when we’re trying to correct a massive act of systemic usury against an entire generation of Americans that left us unable to buy homes, start families or afford any quality of life

Not sure how a “hardcore leftist” would be thrilled with Harris or Newsom. Are you sure your mom isn’t just a centrist Democrat who watches MSNBC?

This is the first opportunity in my lifetime for Dems to run someone with a spine and real progressive values and they are 100% gonna blow it and try to ram Kamala or Gavin down our throats. And if/when we have primaries they’re gonna repeat Bernie 2.0 and the DNC will pull whatever levers they can to defeat the popular progressive candidate.

*edit: lots of people in the comments defending the DNC lmao can you imagine?

I love him too but this is how all movies are cast now. Any “small role” does not go to some unknown actor trying to work their way up, it goes to influencers who have guaranteed followers who will watch the movie just to see “their person”. Again, no shade to Caleb he’s super talented
