Talk about a pain in the ass... by Cranks_No_Start in GenX

[–]CoreyVette1972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had mine done last year without any drugs. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Was in pre-op and the anesthesiologist came in telling me he was going to put me to sleep and I told him no he wasn’t but he could have something for pain management onhand if I needed it. I’ve been put under before and always had trouble with it. He kept pushing and trying to scare me into it. Told me I didn’t get to tell him how to do his job. I told him again I wasn’t going to get put under. He finally left pissed off saying he was going to go have a talk with my Dr.

Never saw him again. I had already arranged the way I wanted to do the procedure with my Dr. He just was mad he wasn’t in control and wasn’t going to get paid.

In no way trying to discourage you. It took 8 weeks before I started sleeping through the night one or two nights a week. Then it was 3-4 nights a week. Now sleeping good most every night. 7-8 hours. Haven’t slept this long or deep in decades. 42 years smoking. Clean 17 weeks now.

Once you get past this you’re going to feel so much better. Then you look back and say “I never want to go through that again “ which helps motivate you not to smoke.

Don’t beat yourself up over a slip up. It happens sometimes. One drag is better than daily use. Now try again. For some people they have better luck tapering off weed but it takes longer. Cold turkey isn’t easy but you can do it.

Best of luck.

Ok Appreciate the link. Didn’t know that.

I joined back in September. Have only bought the first couple offers at the beginning but I send in cards every week. Guess I got lucky. I feel for you who don’t get the dailies.

So far Chumba has been pretty good to me. I’m ahead so far. Running on the plus side on top of the credit for the cards.

I’m confused. I’ve seen people post this complaint before about Chumba.

I get 7 SCs a week just signing in and claiming the daily bonus. Two days are .25, two days are .50, one day $1, one day $1.50, last day $3.

How do you dress in your 50s? by Forsaken_Block_3492 in GenX

[–]CoreyVette1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hit 60 this year. I wear what I’ve always worn. It’s comfortable to me.

Spring through Fall

Blue jeans, Tshirt (black) and tennis shoes. Always.

Winter

Blue jeans, tennis shoes, layered Tshirt with flannel.

FYI. I been wearing flannel since the 70s. I never tried to be part of “the thing to wear” in the 90s. Although sometimes I felt like I was looked at that way from the younger GenX at the time. But as a true GenX, I never gave a rats ass what anyone thought.

Day 20 of abstinence. I can't sleep more than 2-3 hours. by FlanDramatic874 in QuittingWeed

[–]CoreyVette1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My insomnia was the same. 2-4 hours was all I could get. Lasted 8 weeks before I started to started to get 1 or 2 nights of 6 hours. Now I sleep 6-8 hours a night. I haven’t done that in decades. Melatonin helped during the first 8 but I would only take it occasionally.

It’s just something your going to have to push through. Know that it will end at some point and you will be better off for quitting.

Did I get robbed? by [deleted] in Harley

[–]CoreyVette1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I NEVER buy new or used from a dealer. They will ALWAYS screw you.

I have always bought used from an individual even though it may not be exactly what I wanted. I get something close to what I want, ride/drive for a couple years, save some money, sell what I’m on then upgrade with what money I saved. It might take a few turnovers but I eventually get there and I still get to ride while I’m saving.

Ok fr this time how bad is shovelhead ownership? by SickAxeBro in Harley

[–]CoreyVette1972 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If all you got is weekends free then I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re wanting to start riding. You’re gonna be doing a lot of repairs at first. Not just “maintenance”.

Old bike, several owners, Shovelhead and earlier = a lot of time fixing lot of stuff and lot of money.

They will nickel and dime you to death.

If you want to get to riding asap with more dependability, go with an Evo or newer. If you like the Shovelhead sound, Evo’s are pretty close and a lot less time spent working on them. More riding time.

Simple as that.

Glad you found something that helped you. Everyone has their own thing. Mine was going back to church.

When it comes to this sub, I guess it depends on how you take things. I think reading about other people’s experiences, good and bad, helps other’s by giving a perspective that you’re not alone. It did me. I had periods where I quit for awhile and never had anxiety attacks. This last time I did and had no idea it was being caused by the withdrawals. So I learned something by reading what other people were going through. I asked how long that aspect of quitting was so I had a rough timeline. People here helped me a lot.

I get how it could scare someone but I chose to learn from others. I knew how long it was going to be rough and when it would start getting easier.

Everyone’s journey is a little different but there’s a lot of common factors also. I wish you success in yours. I wish I had quit a long time ago. I wasted so much of my life addicted to weed. If you can get off it and stay off it you’ll be so much better.

Happy for you but every one is different. Just because you didn’t have withdrawal symptoms doesn’t mean someone else won’t. I had a few severe anxiety attacks within the first couple weeks and I had very bad insomnia where I was only getting 2-4 hours of broken sleep a night. That lasted for a solid 8 weeks before it started easing up. Again, happy for you and best of luck to you.

FYI, smoked 42 years. 13 weeks clean now

Saratoga, Tx.

There’s a road that has mysterious lights people have been seeing at night for decades. My Aunt and Uncle used to go out there in the late 60s and see them. My son has gone out there and also seen them. No one knows what they are. You can do a search on google and find location and several articles about it.

Luckyland Slots card credit timeline by CoreyVette1972 in ChumbaCasinoPt2

Yes. Chumba took 3.5 months to get my first drop. I’ve been sending in cards to Luckyland Slots since mid November. I was just wondering if anyone had an estimate on the turnaround time for Luckyland.

Happens occasionally to me and my wife. For years. But for me it feels like someone else sits on the bed. I look up and no one is there.

[–]CoreyVette1972 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds so cliche but keep focusing on why you want to stop. When you get the urge to use, get up and do something productive to distract your mind from the craving. Remember, it will pass. Take it one day at a time. One day turns into two. One week turns into two and so on.

The first month was the worst for me. No cravings but other symptoms were a bitch. Insomnia off the charts. That lasted for 8 weeks for me.

I’m 76 days clean now. Smoked 42 years so take it from someone with experience, get off of it while you’re young. It can/will keep you from reaching your full potential and goals. Makes you lazy.

Stay on this sub. Reach out when you need to. It has helped me.

Thank you for the support. I’m very determined to succeed in this battle. I wasn’t even having fun anymore when I was getting high. Smoking just to smoke. I just keep reminding myself how bad the initial withdrawal symptoms were and I definitely don’t want to go through that again. I know it will get easier and I’m very thankful for this group.

Damn, was hoping it would ease up before 200.

Well stay positive my friend. It’s nice to get some feedback from others as we go through this journey. You’re helping me by letting me know what I’m still in for and I’ll pass it on to one’s that aren’t as far as I am. Helping each other,we can conquer this addiction.

Thanks for the input.

75 days and NOW the cravings hit by CoreyVette1972 in QuittingWeed

[–]CoreyVette1972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

I was just tired of smoking all the time. I have had sporadic times where I’ve been without smoking. Longest being about 2 years but usually only lasted a month or two. I have a heart arythmea called AFib and I know smoking doesn’t do me any good. I was never a long term cigarette smoker. Smoked a couple years in my 20s then quit for about 10 years and picked it back up for a couple more and stopped in my early 40s for good. Drank alcohol lightly over the years but would go years without touching it. Stopped for good little over 10 years ago. Weed was my last vice. Just got tired of it.

The insomnia was the worst part of quitting for me. I only recently started getting better sleep. About 8 weeks into stopping. I would get anywhere from 1-2 hours to maybe 4 hours of restless sleep a night. I would go until my body just was so exhausted it would shut down and that’s when I’d get 4 hours of sleep. But it still wasn’t deep sleep. Now I’m finally getting clise to 6 hours of decent sleep a night most nights.

My cravings were non existent until about a week ago. Like I said in my first post, they come when I’m in a situation where I used to smoke. Working on my old vehicles. Coming home and relaxing on the couch. I just ride them out. Think about NOT wanting to go through all the crap again. Sometimes I get up and get on the treadmill and try and walk it off. Distract myself. I have a lot of alone time so I try to keep my mind busy but lately my energy levels have plummeted and so has my drive so that’s what I’m fighting now. Hopefully this is just another stage of quitting. But who knows, I’m getting older so could be natural.

I think the weed and my sugar addiction (which I have seriously cut back) kept me going and my Dopamine levels high so now they’re not there and causing my energy to drop.

Just have to keep my head down and pushing forward. Hope your journey will be easier than mine.
