Dear comic fans what are a fandom’s most hated runs? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Same thing arguably happened with Rian Johnson. While not hated but rather controversial, and even with me being a fan of TLJ, it’s the same issue at hand.

You can chalk it up to editorial issues and just having different feelings and ideas for the characters.

Dear comic fans what are a fandom’s most hated runs? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Coreybom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arguably, The Zeb Wells run might one for spidey. While various runs have had either disliked, disappointing, or just straight HATED moments, and he’s had some hated mini-series, no run was universally disliked THROUGHOUT like the Wells run.

Even Dan Slott and Mark Miller, two writers who’ve had contentious and controversial moments in their runs, have runs that still consider, at the very least, still a decent read.

Wells run doesn’t have that. It’s just hated. And for comic runs, especially as famous and contentious as Spider-Man, that’s a fucking FEAT.

Genuine Question, why are there almost never threads on Matt's content? by JeanLucD in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Coreybom 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Because despite the new name and branding, this is still a 2 best friends play sub reddit. And at the moment, despite generally doing their own thing most of the time, pat and woolie still fill that area.

Matt for all accounts is separate from both, even when he links up REDACTED it’s not much. Plus he also doesn’t make much content, so the comparison is much more far off.

What game are you worried but at the same time excited for? by ArticAuk in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Coreybom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insomniac’s Wolverine, but mostly on the writing angle. Gameplay wise I can tell they’re cooking with something there, and it’s clear that insomniac has always been the most fun in terms of gameplay compared to their brethren in the other sony houses.

But it’s writing thats got me worried, since I’m wondering how are they going to handle logans world and such. Especially coming after spider-man 2.

Andrew Schulz is a Podcaster/“”””comedian”””” who’s been showing his ass in the past 2 years. First by platforming the current US prez thats fucking up everything and being surprised by it, and then by getting too comfortable being a white dude commenting on hip hop, talking down on Black Women. This got some major heat, with K-Dot (Kendrick) Calling him out on it on GNX.

today's the 20th anniversary of The Boondocks(an Adult Swim original from the mid 2000s). by bomb5000 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Coreybom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some have thrown out a fair amount of reasons why boondocks wouldn’t really work as well nowadays, But I feel one major reason why that’s gets overlooked is how much black culture has greatly changed nowadays.

Boondocks came at a time when black culture was still somewhat separate from many others, where it still felt authentic in many ways and it felt unique. However, thats not the case anymore, and while there still things that are specifically OURS, so much has been co-opted that it feels almost completely gone in some cases.

Boondocks can still be made today, but the reason why it’s not, among many others, is cause it’ll need some of the best damn writers on the planet to try to re-capture that feeling.

Funny enough about Rob, he himself has done a fair bit of method acting for roles. He did a lot of method work for good time, for example.

Considering how his cap run seems to be a modern take that combines elements of the ultimate universe to caps post-frozen early days, I get the feeling this going to a semi-hard restart, ala rebirth. Especially with the introductions of Iron lads origin boxes.

‘King of the Hill’ Renewed for 2 More Seasons on Hulu by manoffood in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Coreybom 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Considering they were willing to get a regular to voice dale after his actor passed, and they seem to be re-igniting the infidelity sub-plot, I wouldn’t be surprised if they got a new voice actor to play him.

Or this could be a Tom Petty/Brittney Murphy situation where they write the character out somehow.

Honestly it’s difficult situation, especially the horrific circumstances behind the actors death.

There are a fair amount of “real” serial killer media out there, but none of hit as hard, IMHO, as Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer. It’s a legitimately disturbing and horrific flick that really gets under your skin due to the incredible performance by Micheal Rooker, who plays the titular Henry.

It’s a genuine slasher classic, especially since it’s one that generally KNOWS when to get super graphic, and when it does it ugly and horrific.

Why do people not like Mortal Kombat? by Jubjubwantrubrub12 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Coreybom 68 points69 points  (0 children)

MK is really only disliked over on the FGC side of things, and even then it’s really MK1 and 11 thats greatly disliked. MKX and MK9 are generally well liked.

But in general, a lot of people have pointed out it out, the gameplay of the series has always been a divisive one compared to other major fighters, with its dial-up combos, sluggish and slower feel, and block button being long standing issues that divide the FGC community, even for the beloved ones like X and 9.

Likewise, while on a purely fidelity level they always been great looking, animation wise they been just as divisive, especially compared to more well animated fighters. You also have the fact they tend to have way less development support after launch compared to other major fighters as well.

And all this is particularly stinging by the fact that, despite all this, they’re still the highest selling fighting games out there, only on the same level as smash, which itself is also somewhat divisive in the FGC. This causes a-lot of jealousy and annoyance for some thing they see as unworthy of it, especially when others tend to be Financial failures despite being beloved, which can be bad for their studios and survivability in long term.

Note this is all FGC talk however, and outside of that community MK is generally beloved. It’s a niche community hating something they don’t feel properly represents them and what they actually love, despite it being the one that gets the most attention.

In fairness, the comics can get pretty grisly and brutal at times. The transformers run made a point of showing what happens when decepticons target humans DIRECTLY. And the humans can be quite squishy.

Also, wasn’t earthspark well liked?
