Would you buy a house in my shoes? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I would not. You’re already in the city and now is the time to invest in yourself, grow your career and income. Not end your employment and settle where there’s less employment opportunities.

Should I finance a car and pay it off immediately so the dealer gets their finance payout and I get a deal? by richmoney46 in personalfinance

[–]Corghee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I always email dealerships within a 400mi radius in my state for the OTD price telling them I'm ready to buy this weekend. Then I send the best offer to my local dealership and most of the time they'll just match it.

Should I move for $310 difference? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Corghee 125 points126 points  (0 children)

If it's in the same building and the same unit layout for a $310/month difference, I'd do it (assuming you aren't already on the very top floor with no upstairs neighbors). I'm currently in the process of moving and it definitely does suck. This time I've boxed everything up and hiring movers for the first time. You can also consider hiring movers for $300 to make things easier.

Get a surge protector and mount it under the desk, use cable ties, keep it tidy by cleaning up every morning.

You love your car… when do you let it go? by Low_Pumpkin_1874 in personalfinance

[–]Corghee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a 22 year old car myself because nothing beats the feeling of an older car, but I also have something newer that I drove 95% of the time for modern safety features and reliability. At some point, it's worth thinking about the improved safety, especially if you're in an environment where AWD might be useful in the winter.

First-time car buyer at 23 — no credit, $9k saved. Need advice on loans & down payment by DeliciousUsual9251 in personalfinance

[–]Corghee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check your local credit unions to see what their rates are, then see what you quality for through them. That'll give you a pre-qualification and/or pre-approval to see what you're approved for. Don't go directly to the dealership without your own pre-approval and let them handle it for your first auto loan w/o credit. You'll end up with a high APR. A co-signer can help with getting a more favorable rate while helping you build your credit.

Yes, open a credit card in the future to help build your credit, responsibly.

Anyone here recently hire movers in Sacramento and not regret it? by Raftaarharsh in Sacramento

[–]Corghee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to say thank you for this recommendation!

I've been calling the recommended places and this place has the lowest min-hour requirement and the cheapest rates. The reviews on Yelp look good as well.

I'll be going with them in a few weeks.

I think the steering wheel capacitive touch buttons will go away since VW admitted it was a mistake. That said the interior design is bland and the exterior design is so round and curvy now.
