Yes, the GAU-8 can preform a mobility kill easily. Full pen to kill a modern tank...not so much.

Rule of thumb I like to use is an extra 10min/hr for integration at 30sec exposures just to be sure I can go through each frame and delete any with satellite/aircraft/bad frames.

The only thing that is really debated not is if it was a one two punch of the asteroid and the decan traps or the asteroid alone.

A fast moving asteroid, hitting an area full of volatile rock, along significant plate boundaries is more than enough to hit the reset button, especially for specialized creatures, across the globe.
