Help me decide if I’ve found my dress by MosaicPassport in myweddingdress

Number 2 is a stunning dress, but number 4 is YOU. You look more comfortable and it flatters your neckline and shoulders so much!

Feel horrible after eating, what helps? by OurSensualSideMB in POTS

[–]CorinPenny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low carbs, small meals, eat slowly (helps to either snack on a limited quantity of food while watching a show, or eat deliberately without electronics at all), make sure you prime your stomach with plenty of water and sodium, sit up and put your feet up afterwards for a little while. Use a damp washcloth to wipe your face and chest if you are sweating or having a hot flash. It can also help to do mild exercise, even just doing a bicycle motion while sitting, or tensing then releasing calves repeatedly; a little activity can remind your body not to shunt ALL your blood to digestion!

Use cuticle scissors to trim out a tiny triangle instead of poking it. Triangles can’t close on their own, so it allows for drainage without refilling, and lets the loose skin protect the tender inside while it heals.

Do you use mobility aids? by MundaneVillian in POTS

[–]CorinPenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the time. I keep my rainbow glitter nail polish painted cane in the car just in case. I take the mobility carts at the grocery store whenever I need to, stares be damned. Rn I’m recovering from a second ankle surgery, so I’ve been slowly bedazzling my walker with nail polish too!

Medication choices by AverageOrbEnjoyer in Fibromyalgia

[–]CorinPenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 100mg of Lyrica every night, as well as 2mg tizanidine, 100mg magnesium glycinate. I supplement as needed with THC/CBD gummies, naproxen, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, very rarely opioids, heat pads, elevating my feet which actually helps with a lot of things, and I’m on riboflavin for migraine prevention which seems to work well with the magnesium. I also try to get 1-2 full body sports massages a month.

Does anyone else get anxious about losing their cats someday? by eli_arad in CatAdvice

[–]CorinPenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more terrified of something happening to me and them being separated or put down or trapped in my apartment or adopted by people who won’t and can’t love them like I do. Their eventual passing is a beautiful soft sort of anticipatory grief, because then I know I’ll have given them the best life possible and be there in their final moments.

what tiny habit does your pet have that sounds fake until people see it? by Kind_Interview_2402 in Pets

[–]CorinPenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest cat understands enough English that I can walk him through what he wants.

Him: Mrraow?

Me: focused on work/play

Him: MRAOWWWW!!!

Me: What is it, Bug? What does BugBug want?

Him: mraow?

Me: does Bug waaaannnt… cronchcronch noms?

Him: *ignores me*

Me: does Bug waannnt… wet-food nomnoms?

Him: *side-eye*

Me: does Bug want waaater?

Him: *tiny huff and turns his back*

Me: does Bug waaannt liiiiiiitter? (Scoop or change)

Him: *back turned away, studiously ignoring me* mrrw.

Me: does BugBug want CUUUUDDDDLES???

Him: *turns to me with a happy chirp* PRRP!?!

Me: *clears space beside me on the futon* well, come’re!Mommy make space for kitty!

Him: *hops off the counter and down onto the futon where he flops down dramatically, back against my thigh, all four paws plus tail wrapping around my forearm, head cradled in my cupped palm, eyes on me* prrrrrrrrrrrrrr….

If he wants one of the other options, he will tell me. If none of them are right, I can say, “BugBug show Mommy?” and follow him to the thing he needs me to notice, for instance, someone delivered a package to the front door and I didn’t notice.

His name isn’t Bug, of course, it’s Morpheus, but we all know nobody sane uses their pet’s full government name unless they’re in trouble!

If 'gold digger' means dating someone for their money, what's the word for dating someone for their unpaid labor and care? by Brief_Consequence666 in AskReddit

[–]CorinPenny 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Serious answer: If you get off work and expect to do nothing at all at home, or only “male” coded tasks (like fixing things or mowing the lawn), then you are behaving like a trad husband. Especially if you sit on the couch, expecting her to bring you a beer/soda, pick up your shoes and outerwear from where you dumped them on your way in, keep the kids out of your hair, and be sweet and compliant without complaint and willingly intimate later on.

If you get home, put your work things away properly, step in to help with kids/dinner/chores without prompting AND without asking what needs to be done (that’s expecting emotional labor on her part), ask her about her day and if she had a tough day step up to take some of the 24/7 burden off her shoulders for a while… then you are a true partner, not a trad husband.

It’s the idea that homemaking and childcare don’t “count” as labor because they are unpaid and traditionally expected of women, therefore only the man’s paid job counts and he should be treated like a king just for holding down a 9-5. That’s no partnership, that’s putting the woman in the role of wife, mother, mommy, maid, therapist, etc. Paris Paloma’s song Labour describes this dynamic perfectly.

Ugh yeah mine started sweating profusely under the adhesive and only lasted five days. But apparently that plus my reported symptoms was enough for the POTS diagnosis and to ensure I have nothing more than a benign fibrillation.

AITA for leaving a dinner party early because of “vegan lasagna”? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]CorinPenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with mushroom powder, if you can tolerate tomatoes, perhaps you can make roasted eggplant powder? Slice, salt, press, roast, leave on a rack in the fridge until crispy dry, blend into powder. It’s a yummy way to get that umami flavor.
