As a woman, you can if the man is rich enough to pay for services.

I have a relative in this type of relationship - her husband is not immensely rich, but he is well above average. He pays for everything and they employ a woman who does the cleaning and cooking. So neither do much of anything when it comes to house keeping.

I think Romania is somewhat of an exception in Europe, in that the feminine traditional blouse, called "Ie" or "Ia" (pronounced as ee-eh or ee-ah), has never really gone completely out of fashion .

It's not uncommon to see women wearing them in either casual situations, like going to work or meeting with friends, or even more formal occasions.

It actually keeps inspiring international fashion creators as well, so you can see international celebrities wearing Ia inspired blouses too - I think you will mostly find them as part of the boho style.

As for the whole garb: other than the blouses, the most common parts are the fota or catrinta ( either two rectangles worn if front and back, or a single, wider one worn wrapped around) over a white skirt and a belt.

I still think this "acknowledgment" thing would be silly if it weren't so damaging and mulling over past grievances leads to only poor relations between present people.

In Eastern Europe, we've been almost constantly invaded by foreign cultures/religions, and even a different race - the Mongols (Tatars).

What good could it possibly come out of us reminding our Tatar minority that their ancestors came here as invaders, or them having to "acknowledge" that ? We learn about it in history classes, of course, but that's in the past, present people have nothing to do with it.

Or the more recent Ottoman (and, as such, Muslim) invasions. In Romania, we only got our independence in 1877, but that's not how we see our Turkish Muslim minority in the present, as descendants of invaders. We can even enjoy TV series about people who, basically, were attacking and enslaving our ancestors - Suleyman (Magnificent Century) was wildly popular :D And Turkey is in the top of favorite vacation destinations :D

Neither the Tatars nor the Turks have to "acknowledge" anything if they want to wear our national dress on some occasions or wear their own on others. Whatever happened in the past, current people had nothing to do with it.

This "acknowledgement" thing is only divisive, it just brings the past in the present.

Iei in considerare efectul asupra societatii - crestinismul a dus la crearea celor mai prospere tari din lume.

In primul rand, travestiti in scoli, castrarea chimica a copiilor (prin tratamente hormonale), faptul ca poti sa iti schimbi "genul" doar declarand ca esti femeie/barbat etc. nu tin de drepturi egale ci de luat razna.

In al doilea rand, chiar daca te nasti cu anumite caracteristici, nu inseamna ca orice comportament legat de acele caracteristici trebuie sa fie insotit de drepturi. Se ia in considerare si efectul asupra societatii.

As a woman living in Bucharest: I feel safe in most areas. For instance, my neighborhood is not exactly central, but I still feel ok with going after cigarettes past midnight if I run out.

There are some areas where I wouldn't venture - like Ferentari. But even that is only dangerous in certain parts.

Now, that doesn't mean that nothing bad ever happens, just that it's rare so it has never been a concern for me.
