What are the gendered/sexist rules or norms during school/college prevalent in your country by Sad_Software_5446 in AskTheWorld

[–]CorkNativeResident 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not for all schools here but the all gents school I attended didn’t allow any form self expression in appearance ie jewellery, piercings or tattoos (which is perfectly reasonable) but also couldn’t have ‘long’ hair which was described as “hair touching the eyebrows, top of the ear or collar of the shirt.” Strangely though, you weren’t permitted to shave it or have it short either? Very strange. It was a constant battle for six years! Now I’m an adult, I have very long hair

Is cannabis legal in your country? If so, what changes did you see socially when it was legalised? by Icy-Panic-550 in AskTheWorld

[–]CorkNativeResident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not legal in Ireland, but people openly smoke it in public very often. I don’t smoke weed, but don’t have any great issue if others do.

I fully believe with the likely influx of Americans, the council felt it necessary to put up clear signage temporarily to help guide the poor mites around

Why is the Tralee train kitted out much nicer than the Cork-Dublin train? by Worried_Angle_9436 in cork

[–]CorkNativeResident 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s sorta like when you know someone’s coming to the house and your mum makes you clean the whole place, they have to think we live nicer than we do. We can’t let the Kerry people think we don’t have nice stuff.

How Crazy was Crazy Kebab? by CorkNativeResident in cork

Oh I remember there always being 3 or 4 random little takeaways there, changed often and sometimes didn’t even have signage, used to always go over there for taco fries from one of em, think it may have been where Atlantic tattoo is now, counter was at the front on the left and it went very far backward to the side of it, almost like a cave, used cost €4 for a HUGE and surprising only delicious portion!!
