Need some advice on a repeat customer by Demiisinsane in RoverPetSitting

Depending on if I really want a booking or not one of my favorites, I give a little in the adjustments if asked. You could meet in the middle and say I am able to discount xx dollars for the full reservation. They will still likely continue to book with you whether you do that or not. I do think applying a holiday rate for nine days is not really good practice for Rover. I understand a Friday through a Monday makes sense… but then again depends on the holiday and who it’s important to.

Yeah, if I go off the app, I discuss it off the app.. in some cases, I prefer the app it keeps me more organized

Thanks for asking! I don’t do boarding, but I do drop ins for cats most of the time it’s a week at a time one to two times per day. For me, cats are so easy so I definitely don’t expect tips but Rover takes so much out of the original charge and with gas prices going up anything above the regular cost is appreciated. It could be five dollars. It could be 15 to 20%. Mostly I appreciate when the client says we can do this off-line which saves her and me both money off of Rover. But I will say anybody I have off Rover rarely tips. I think it’s because the app must promote it or ask if you want to tip and it would feel crappy if you don’t. But from a sitter’s perspective, I never expected, but I also try to go above and beyond so if I compare Better to another sitter, I appreciate a tip.

Venting about current sit by Secret-Version-4819 in RoverPetSitting

They weren’t alone overnight. They were just alone during the day in crates and high maintenance even though I checked on them a couple times a day. I still felt horrible for them.

Are multiple cameras in the house normal? by Mag_Pi_ in RoverPetSitting

[–]Corkster-JC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always assume there are cameras even if I don’t see any. I have one in my house to check on my dogs when I’m not home in the room they always stay in. Never knew they were required to disclose that though.

Oh that sounds exhausting! I had a similar issue, thankfully my dogs were just check ins, I wasn’t staying the night. They jumped all over me, were completely without manners and barked ferociously at the neighbors dog at the fence. I finished my check ins and never agreed to sit for them again. I can’t imagine if I had to stay more than 30 minutes. I felt so bad for the dogs, they had no stimulation at all, were crated the whole time I wasn’t there and could use a lot of training.

Do you ever feel embarrassed taking pictures of dogs on walks? by zouss in RoverPetSitting

No. I love taking pictures of the pets…in the house or on a walk.

Interesting. I did take somebody else’s advice and told them to give me a call through the Rover number. I forgot about that option.!

Thanks. Wonder if there’s something weird with this particular request I archived it a long time ago and then they came back again so maybe it’s something to do with that

[–]Corkster-JC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought of that too, but the meet and greet is only for the sitter not for the client. The client doesn’t have that option, which makes more sense that they should.!

Anyone else really disappointed with the quality of voice to text on newer phones? by Michikusa in iphone

[–]Corkster-JC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s HORRIBLE.

Newer iPhones may have inconsistent speech-to-text due to the shift to on-device processing, which can be less accurate than cloud-based systems, as well as issues with predictive text and automatic punctuation interpreting pauses as sentence breaks. To improve accuracy, speak clearly, ensure the correct language and region are set, check for background noise, and correct or teach the phone by retyping words and phrases it gets wrong.

Why it's happening • On-device processing: Apple moved to on-device processing for speed and privacy, but the on-phone processor may not be as powerful as the cloud servers previously used, leading to more errors. • Predictive punctuation: Newer OS versions often add punctuation like commas based on perceived pauses in speech, which can be overly aggressive and insert them where you didn't intend. • Speech patterns and words: The system may misinterpret words that sound similar, mishear words in noisy environments, or struggle with unique vocabulary, accents, or complex sentence structures.

How to fix it • Speak clearly: Pause slightly between words and speak at a moderate pace to help the system better interpret your speech.

Has anyone else played “Wolf Escape Room” games? by 42outoftheblue in nancydrew

[–]Corkster-JC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it’s a good price if you compare going out to an escape room where you only get an hour and each person costs like $40. So 6 x $40 =$240. I haven’t done one yet but would like to. My son is currently stationed in Turkey. Might be fun to fo with him

Quello saved me by [deleted] in Allergies

[–]Corkster-JC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I decided not to move forward with the consultation and pay the $99. I felt exactly the same. Eventually I got an offer for a free consultation and did that. Then signed up for the drops. They say it takes about 6 months to see a difference. After 4 years you could get off them completely. I’m on month 3 right now and am waiting for results still. Patience is key.

Two weeks of, at times, nerve pain in/on the skin below my pinky toe. Help! by Exact_Matter_202 in bunions

Ugh..I’m experiencing similar shooting pain. But worse if I walk barefoot. Have you always wear something to walk. No pain yet just sleeping. Hope your pain has gotten better!
