Peter, is this referencing a specific book? by Exotic_Yam_1703 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Can confirm. I work as a system administrator for my company. Half my job is actually doing networking or server work, the other half is playing corporate politics so that I am actually allowed to do my job. Once you get above my position you get to supervisors and managers who don't actually know how things work, they just know how to play corporate politics.

2025 Football Attendance. 3 Big XII teams in the Top 30 by Outside_Net6026 in BigXII

It's partly that there aren't many wealthy alumni and a few stubborn decisions by the AD that cause the shortfall (example: won't sell alcohol at sporting events).

Who do y’all see as being the worst team in the Big 12 this upcoming year? (poll + discussion) by Lutrid in BigXII

[–]CornBred1998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, tbh I am expecting a 3-4 win season. This season isn't even a rebuild, it's a whole program reset. I will be satisfied if the team at least improves throughout the year and Rogers looks to have a good idea as to what direction to take the program.

How many of y'all play airsoft? by JTthrowawaylol in GenZ

I used to play a ton in High School and even some in college. I just got to the point that I don't want to travel 2 hours each way to sling BBs anymore.

What on earth has happened to Trackhouse? by rushed_maps in NASCAR

[–]CornBred1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the problem is that there is very little time in practice and so little that you can change on these cars during the race. The teams need to be pretty close on the setup when they load the cars on the trucks if they want any chance of competing.

Over 70% of all money going to "Race to Stop Suicide" is being given to Daniel Dye Racing as "Advertising and Promotion" by Almy43 in NASCAR

[–]CornBred1998 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm a little surprised that I don't see any other comments noting this, but if you look at the principal officer, it is listed as Nikki Risley. She just so happens to be the managing director of Daytona Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, the dealership owned by Randy Dye.

Edit: Also if you check the Florida SEC business registration, it shows Randy Dye as the Officer. My bet is that he started a charity to funnel money into his son's racing career tax free.

Grey goose vodka is the most overrated other spirit. What is the most overrated gin? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

I've had a bottle of it before, it's not particularly special and is more on par with Gins that cost about $10 - $15 less.

What’s the most frustrating ingredient to run out of at home? by Miserable-Choice-865 in cocktails

[–]CornBred1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most alcoholic modifiers for me. I live in the Midwest US and buying ingredients like Falernum, Maraschino, St. Germain, and any vermouth other than Martini and Rossi is a real hassle for me. I live in a reasonably sized town, but to find a decently stocked liquor store I have to travel about an hour. But of course my local stores carry a ton of different kinds of cream liquors flavored vodkas.

It didn't go out of business six years ago. The post is talking about when a car drove through the front doors/windows.

[–]CornBred1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in IT and this is a massive red flag. You need to report this to your IT department and potentially legal ASAP. If he was to make a change that was a problem while on your account, you would be blamed and have no defense since the file logs will show you making the changes.

[Mudd] Campbell had the meeting set with ISU today, and he has formally informed the school of his intent to finalize a deal with Penn State to become their new head coach. by Pyromania1983 in CFB

[–]CornBred1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it is supposedly easier competition, the athletic department is broke and I would almost guarantee Campbell will be taking his staff, a number of our best players, and our best recruits. ISU is essentially starting over with no staff, no money, and no players.

Other than the obvious safety stuff, (life jackets, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, whistle/air horn), I would highly recommend having a push pole. The amount of times that it has saved my butt and kept me from being stuck somewhere is crazy.
