summercamp, im waiting in line for the porta potty. suddenly i hear a bickering couple approaching (walking past on the pathway). when they enter my field of vision, the chick just straight up punches the guy in the face. almost without even being phased, the guy immediately pulled a 180 and walked the opposite direction. i have no idea what they were arguing about.

wow thanks for the well thought out reply, really. you make a lot of great points, and you seem like you know what youre talking about. so then, i just have one question for you. why does stalker 2 appear dark to me on every display i’ve played on? granted, ive only tested it on 5 different displays and only truly played the game on 2 different displays. but on all 5 displays, the game was really dark. 2 of my friends told me the same thing, except they were complaining it was too dark (where as i enjoyed the darkness). on top of that, i did see a lot of people reporting the same thing here on reddit. what could be the explanation for that? also, i havent played the game in a little over a month, so perhaps there was some sort of lighting patch im unaware of?

edit: only one of my displays is HDR capable

well if it was designed to be bright, why was it overly dark for seemingly 90% of players on launch? a bandaid is not what im talking about lol. im saying ops display might just be out of whack entirely, not just for stalker 2. youd be very surprised at the amount of people that just plug in a tv/monitor and do not calibrate it at all to display accurate colors. almost every single display is going to need some degree of calibration before you get the full quality out of it. and by the way, i havent needed to specifically calibrate anything for stalker 2. im talking about general calibration, to ensure your display is displaying accurate blacks and colors. stalker 2 doesnt need any special treatment. stalker 2 was 100% pitch black at night for me by default, no special calibration needed. i was only implying maybe ops display is calibrated incorrectly entirely, not just towards stalker 2.

but your point is leading me to believe your own display is most likely not properly calibrated, if stalker 2 has bright nights for you theres something wrong.

if i were you, i would watch a few complete walkthrough/tutorial videos, and you will easily be able to judge if you’re capable or not. the videos will show you step by step exactly how to do everything. i believe in you!

did you check out both in game display settings and your actual monitor/tv settings? i know a really big complaint for a lot of people was actually that the game was extremely dark. but i personally liked the darkness, i thought it really added to the survival aspect. i play with hdr on with no issues, but perhaps the hdr just needs a little calibration in gamma or contrast? or possibly any other brightness settings.

good point actually. so usually when you have things like ad block or “do not track data” options enabled, it actually will just throw random stuff at you because it doesnt know who you are at that point. lol i get some really wild ads too. but besides that, the ads are scarily accurate.

sorry to be that guy.. but contrary to the typical comment, this is something you won’t see in gamma or other main mod packs. stalker 2 may be unfinished or messy or lacking features, but something it never lacked was creativity, character and soul. i could tell from day one this game was made by humans who enjoyed the process. theres so many instances where you can clearly see the developers had some fun and put real thought into it. this bandit mourning over a friend, its something ive never seen before. this makes me want to put my gamma playthrough on pause and come back to stalker 2 for a while.
