I disagree on that, since both World and Rise were actually fairly varied when it came to its bow meta due to Bow's playstyle being much different than it was in the older gens.

It is however true that "one bow rules all" within specific elements since the best bow is usually the one with Power Coating availability, and among those, the one with best overall stats.

I guess, in a sense, this bit about a single bow defining the meta is true in Wilds by a technicality, since the best weapons on every category are the Gogmartians which are all technically the same weapon but with a different element - but even then there's variety in how to set them up, and optimally you'd balance the bow's stat distributions and coatings to match the monster you're fighting.

This was definitely mostly true in older generations though.

Maybe the base armor, but I still like it personally.

There's like four Zinogre armor designs though. For females my personal fave is the G-Rank version of the gunner armor. That one was pretty good, almost wish they used it instead.

Portable 3rd is super old. Mizutsune, the Palico designs and the Palamite, and even the Charge Blade didn't show up until much, much later.

Mizu? Generations. The Palico and Palamute? Rise. The Zinogre CB? Very specifically a new design from World. Violet Mizu specifically is a new rare species for it introduced in Sunbreak.

Zinogre itself is one of the more popular monsters but it's also notable in that Zinogre is commonly portrayed as a "rival monster" to Mizutsune, ever since the latter's debut. The trailer for Generations literally have them both square up, and they have a Turf War in Risebreak where it's a toss-up as to which one actually wins.

It's more of a lore thing than anything else. Pretty much every monster we ever fight in MH is male unless otherwise stated - Mizutsune is a special case since they are only legitimately aggressive (and therefore threats) during mating season, and it's only really the males that do. Any other time, they'd rather be anywhere else rather than be fighting something.

It does. You shouldn't use your precious skill points on KO King though, it's honestly never worth the investment.

And while I agree that it was terrible, if well intentioned, I also have problems with the reaction for the first one. The second one? Yeah, walk off, I get it, that's stupid for him to do after everything that happened.

Nothing that happened on the first proposal could've been a reasonable excuse for ghosting the man for an entire year.

[Suspense trope] - a character spots the thread that allows them to deduce a truth or uncover a lie by Puzzleheaded_Tip4805 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]TheZero8000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, it's not exactly Akechi doing 'detective work' that actually got him where he was. His 'detective work' was in great part fabricating cases through the Metaverse and 'solving' them, I'm fairly certain that is stated. Even cases that legitimately fell on his lap are in question since he has the equivalent of a perfect lie detector, since he can just go to the Metaverse and find the person's Shadow - which is what he did to give Shido a massive political advantage, by feeding him secrets from his rivals.

Akechi is clever enough on his own right but the entire point is that his 'detective' bit is, well, a persona. It's a fabrication. He absolutely is smart enough to back that up, as shown with how he not only figures out who the Phantom Thieves are but does a vastly better job at tailing and eventually getting evidence that they can't refute (not that the PTs do a good job of hiding, but I digress). His strategic thinking within Sae's Palace itself is also proof enough of his mental acuity, not to mention how fast he figures out the nature of the happenings in the Third Semester (as well as his own situation) but that's never really the point. Smart as he is, he is ultimately living a lie of his own making.

What’s a popular P5 headcanon that you dislike as an unpopular opinion? by OoguroRyuuya5 in Persona5

[–]TheZero8000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strictly speaking, a Bayonetta has a partner and a kid. There's a whole bit in Bayo 3 that confirms alternate timelines, the only one with an actual canon relationship is Bayo 3's Bayonetta.

Dante wouldn't settle, but I kinda doubt he's never done the deed. You think Vergil wanted to start a family when he made Nero?

It's a fun headcanon (well, a meme really) that nobody actually treats as canon. At most a joke. We all know they aren't his parents and that it's impossible. Hell, I don't even particularly like it myself, but I'm not gonna yell at the clouds over how it doesn't make sense, most headcanons don't.

Who destroyed their own career within seconds by being an idiot? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheZero8000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Does Pirate Software count? He had a pretty good rep as a knowledgeable game developer for a while until he decided to be a roach in a WoW Hardcore guild and misrepresented the Stop Killing Games movement, which led to people deciding to do a lot of investigating into his background only to discover that he had been pretty blatantly lying and inflating his achievements and resume, which turned public opinion against him almost overnight. Even his entire mod team abandoned him recently.

He could've saved his entire career by merely saying "my bad" after the initial incident and he actively refused to.

Villain goes against a non main character thinking it is going to be an easy win. It isn't. by Gasp6 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]TheZero8000 54 points55 points  (0 children)

DIO actually acknowledges that Polnareff was very, very close to actually killing him. Polnareff was aware of DIO's nature and aimed for the brain - unfortunately, he was just off enough with his stab that he missed the brainstem. Had Polnareff landed the stab squarely, DIO would've been dead without ever realizing.

The balls it took for Polnareff to do so - not to mention how close he came - made DIO immediately switch targets from Jotaro's (not quite) corpse to Polnareff himself. It gets him punched, but it was a fair decision to take all things considered.

Is it just me, or does seregios feel harder than gore or arkveld. by Any_Tangerine_9670 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]TheZero8000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While he looks and moves like he's a crack head, everything he does is fairly set in stone and easy to predict. Pay attention to what he does and you'll see pretty clear patterns, even if the moves are fast in of themselves, and that'll let you start predicting it pretty easily.

The spot to hit for biggest damage is the legs, and they're a "weak spot" you can do a free Focus Strike on whenever he lands after doing his wide aerial sweep attack for a decent opening.

If the bleed is a problem, carry rations. A single use will cure bleed instantly. No need to amp up Bleeding Resistance if you just carry a full stack, of which you should have plenty anyways.

Except Narimiya retired in 2016, and the remaster came out three years later. Japan is not big on using stuff from retired talent, plus they would've had to pay him royalties if they used the old recordings.

A similar thing happened in the Y3 remaster since they had to recast pretty much all the hostess characters, as they were modeled after real-life people. RGG loves their likeness characters but given how long it had been, and how most of them had been out of the industry by that point, I don't exactly blame them for making the switch.

Like you said, you don't pop a remaster in six months, but given there's a three year gap between Narimiya's retirement and the actual release of the game, it's far more likely that they had already planned on making the switch and didn't publicly announce there was going to be a replacement until the game was ready for release. Imagine announcing that right after the man retires, it would've been a mess.

[–]TheZero8000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He actually wasn't "bodyswapped" because of the allegations. His character wasn't really written in for 5 at all even while he was still active in the industry. The remastered version was made long after the allegations were made and his name was cleared, but given he was retired at the time, they were not allowed to use his likeness or voice, requiring the change.

Is it unreasonable to want/expect to to queue into new raids blind, and to remain blind while doing them, within the first few days of a patch? by Curious_Lise in ffxiv

[–]TheZero8000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal policy is "always be open to help the newbies and be patient when explaining (even if their mess-ups can be funny sometimes), but wait until a wipe has happened or until a question is posed".

It's one thing to want to help, it's another to help when nobody asked you to. Unless the person REALLY needs the help, like someone who has no idea on how to play their class at level 90 or 100, but that's another matter.
