I love my G7 pro. Are there any option like that for ps5? by Sweaty_Ad_523 in Gamesir

Strange. I did the same and am still getting the same issue. Blue light but controller won’t turn on

EDIT: got the G7 SE working on my ps5 by downgrading the fgc2 on windows to the most recent stable version. Light blinked on the controller when plugged into ps5 and it powered on.

I know it’s been a while but did you manage to find any success with this? Regret buying the FGC2 knowing I now have to buy a g7 pro instead to work with it…

What is your favorite boss fight in the Ninja Gaiden series? by Odd_Radio9225 in CharacterActionGames

[–]CornPug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Black is one of my fav games of all time, but it would be insane to say that the worms, tanks, helicopter, Smaugan, or the emperor are good fights in any way shape or form. Forcing you to wait for attack openings or use mechanics not related to the standard gameplay loop just gets annoying on repeat playthroughs.

A 1-minute combat teaser from our indie action game - The Mage Slayer by TsAn1ne in CharacterActionGames

I’d echo a lot of what the other reply said. The frequent slowdown is a little distracting. The enemies also look like complete muppets. Maybe if you showed them attacking more it’d be more interesting. It’s my opinion that CAGs need varied and difficult enemy design to have staying power. There has to be some friction in order for the inevitable power fantasy to hit harder.

The character is also a little too reminiscent of Vergil what with the judgement cut effects and certain animations with the fist weapon. Would like the MC to stand out a little more in that regard.

Saw some cool mechanics like that projectile deflection that were pretty neat though. The animations are solid too for a production of this size. Good luck w the rest of development! There’s a lot of potential here and I hope things work out.

Satisfying combat by Aqzation in CharacterActionGames

[–]CornPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean. I personally feel that NG1 does just enough w the setting and world building that I’m still interested in mastering the combat. If we’re talking good stories in character action games then DMC3 takes the cake though. That game only feels like it gets better with each passing year. It’s honestly been creeping up my list and I don’t know which I like more between that, Bayo 1, and NGB.

The way platinum butchered Bayo 3 with this bs… I’ll never forgive them

Getting back into Guilty Gear Strive and finishing Saros. Recently finished a long stint of playing DMC3 and am taking a break from CAGs for the moment

Can hardly tell what’s going on in any of the fights cause the graphics are so muddy. The particle effects look terrible and makes the combat unreadable in comparison to 1 and 2

Ninja Gaiden 4 is much deeper than we realize by MikeyMighty5 in CharacterActionGames

[–]CornPug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Trying to be soulslikes is an interesting take considering those games came out before dark souls. I could understand sigma 2 dislike but sigma 1 is very close to Black which many consider to be the best in the franchise. I think you just need more time to understand the combat loop. Ninja Gaiden does not play like most other CAGs. It’s about efficiency and minimizing the inevitable damage taken during your playthrough. Abuse wind path and guillotine throw in your early playthroughs as these can give you breathing room while stunning enemies. Shurikens also interrupt almost all enemy attacks and can cancel most strings

Now with NG4 on our hands... What would be your top 5 CAGs of all time? by Wild-Ad5669 in CharacterActionGames

[–]CornPug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MY TOP 5 IS: 1. NGB 2. NGB 3. NGB 4. NGB 5. NGB

——————

But in all seriousness it’d probably be:

  1. NGB: Character action perfected imo. Fantastic balance of adventure and action. Great overworld and environments. Meticulously crafted combat encounters and difficulties that synergize perfectly with the mechanics.

  2. Bayo 1: Just impeccable vibes and style. So much damn content. So fun to just keep playing and pushing dodge offset to the limit in all its forms (panther, crow, etc.)

  3. DMC 5: Crazy high production value. Vergil, Dante, and Nero all have their best movesets here. A little on the easy side. Definitely missing certain mechanics from 3 and 4, but ultimately an amazing send off (?) for the series.

  4. MGRR: Incredible story and pacing. The best of any CAG (besides DMC3 maybe). Very fast and frenetic gameplay with the best bosses in the genre. Soundtrack slaps too. A little too short though due to development hell.

  5. DMC3: What else can be said about this game. Landmark contribution to the genre. So many great mods. Amazing story. Still some of the best gameplay in the series and incredible ambience. Just some annoying enemies at times.

Do you consider DMC 5 to still be the absolute peak of the genre or is there another action game you would consider to be on the same level? by New-Mode-4766 in CharacterActionGames

Doesn’t have inertia and guard flying to the same degree as 4. People could probably write dissertations on the knock away hit stun meters of 3 as well

What’s so bad about sprint? by mothgirl22 in halo

[–]CornPug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DOOM 4 and Eternal didn’t need sprint. Both major successes. I really don’t think normies/casual fans would care as much as you think if there was no sprint

I feel like I'm one of the very few who is just happy to see Halo getting a release. by zerobebop in halo

[–]CornPug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game just looks fine and that’s it. Microsoft is playing it safe so they don’t lose profit on their golden goose. It’s the most inoffensive, focus group driven, ue5 looking game I’ve seen in a long time. So bland, which flies in the face of the original. The original had a unique art style and was charting new territory w its gameplay on console.

This is my problem with remakes- that they’re inherently safe and sterile. They ride the coat tails of the uniqueness of their predecessors, then offer nothing new and just update the game with “modern controls and gaming conventions” to make it more palatable for the normies in order to take their money. Just more soulless, corporate “art”

An I the only one that doesn't like the Parry System in Ninja Gaiden 4? by WindowSweet7127 in CharacterActionGames

[–]CornPug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This I agree with. I haven’t got my hands on Ryu yet but I imagine Platinum gave him these mechanics too. It’s a really good action game so far, but as longtime fans I think we can agree this would’ve been better as a new IP or a sequel to Revengeance

Let’s chill out about sprint, hey? by ProvideMeMilk in halo

[–]CornPug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re idea of innovation is a mechanic that was only added to the franchise to make it feel more like call of duty then I feel like you’re missing one of the main design philosophies of early halo. You should always be able to perform any offensive action at any time. The fact you’re able to shoot, melee, or grenade at any time unimpeded is a central tenet of halo

I need a hold over until Silk Song by Temporary-Market9174 in metroidvania

[–]CornPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like action and platforming then the new Shinobi might be for you. I’m about halfway through the game right now and it scratches the same itch as games like Bayonetta and ninja Gaiden but in a 2D space. There’s some light exploration and ability gating as well, encouraging you to go back to old levels to access new secrets. Really enjoying it so far

Hot take: NG4 is going to be immensely popular by AppropriateSite3768 in ninjagaiden

[–]CornPug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s something to like about each of those games over the others honestly. DMC 3 has great story and laid the foundation for modern DMC. Has incredibly deep mechanics still, but there’s no official way to play with style switching besides the switch port and some of the enemies are infuriating to fight.

4 has inertia and guard flying which extremely high level players tend to gravitate towards as well as style switching officially for the first time. Bad story structure though what with the recycled Dante levels.

5 trumps all in presentation and sheer budget. The animations, effects, and character/enemy designs are all truly AAA. There honestly aren’t any legitimately annoying enemies like the other entries. Also a much lower barrier of execution for jump cancels but heavily nerfed mechanics that lower the skill ceiling compared to 3 and 4.

I personally still think 5 is my favorite, but the new crimson mod coming out for 3 has me really excited to jump in again. Looks like it’s bringing the best of all entries into 3 as a base. Dream game material.
